When i get out of the underdark in a little while, i am going to try and kill drizzit (yes i know, i will probably get my tail kicked many times!), and i was wondering what the other members of his party are. do they attack if you try and slay driz, or do they just stand there and watch?

Silvershade >> i am not that bothered about his equipment, i just think it would be cool to have killed him. more of an ego booster

I haven't tried it myself, but from what I have heard his partymembers will attack you as well but they're not very hard to kill. I'm not sure if Drizzt will call Guenwhar to aid him also but even without that you will probably have a hard time to kill him.

But if you're after his equipment you will probably get a big dissapointment some time after you have killed him :(.

Honestly, the constant fawning Drizzt and Elminster cameos are the most annoying thing in these games.

It would be out of character for almost anyone to kill Drizzt. There's no reason to. He poses no threat, does nothing offensive, and is useful to the party, and killing him gains absolutely nothing. Even evil characters would never do this in a live-run game.

But the way these CRPGs are set up, killing Drizzt is A) a challenge and B) the only possible relief you can get from his frustrating omnipresence. This makes me want to do it anyway.

It really, really detracts from the game feel. There is NO reason why Drizzt and Elminster should find some contrived excuse to bump into you no matter what damn country you get yourself kidnapped to, simply because you're in their gameworld. It's like playing in a superhero game and no matter WHAT your characters do, no matter if they go to the backwoods of Bulgaria or orbiting Saturn, somehow they will always manage to bump into Batman and Superman once every campaign.

If there was one thing I could change about these games, that would be it.

That would indeed be an ego booster, but only in case Drizzt was as powerful as he's suposed to be. In Gates he is not powerful at all and killing him is no more of a problem than um... party in the sewers or party in guarded compound, methinks.

In his party he's got Bruenor, Wolfgar, Cattie-Brie and Regis. I don't know each of their classes by heart, but I think Wolfgar's a fighter, so is bruenor, regis is a rogue, and cattiebrie is a fighter too I believe.

Don't take my word for it though. Right when my evil party popped out of the underdark I got the dialogue with his party and decided to kill them. Took me two tries, but I beat them nonetheless. in your face salvatore

    Speaking of the D'Man's party,

    *Possible small spoiler*

what's with Bruenor's hammer? Is this something I should have found in order to give to him or is it a reference to another *special* hammer we all know and love?

No, his *pink* ;) warhammer is not in the game, so don't bother to look for it.

[IMG] I must be getting better at this game or something. I emerged from the underdark and decided to save my game before meeting Drizzt and his party. Just for the learning experience I decided to give his party a go.
Drizzt did indeed summon his big panther, but I still cleaned up without much trouble at all. Hmmm, I'm starting to think that I may have to bump up the difficulty level a notch, my characters aren't at a super high level or anything (13-15 I think).
    My party consists of:
    Monk (me)
    Minsc
    Jahiera
    Haer d'Alise
    Aerie
    Imoen

I'm thinking of trading Aerie for Keldorn once I get around to the Unseeing Eye Cult. My monk just picked up the gauntlets of crushing, but I'm thinking of putting them away for awhile, they make him just too powerful.
