well ... even after the many years i have been playing BG, i have never played DSotSC, so i thought it was about time that i did

has anyone played it recently? and do you have any recommendations about characters/parties ... is it still very much like BG or is it more of a hack/slash like IWD?

    thnx

Don't play it, it is... not very good. :) The writing is poor, the items and spells are overpowered.

If you feel you must try it be sure to get the WeiDU version from http://www.chosenofmystra.net because it's WeiDU and they fixed some of the bugs.

Used to play it alot, since it was the first "big" mod out there. It added alot of interesting things to the game for sure. dont consern yourself overlly much with team stuff, keep a team you like and leave 1 or 2 slots open.

Most spells are either bugged or overpowered, nothing that crash the game though. I had immenseproblems with the "Faerie Fire" spell that the shadow druids kept casting on me, wih bypasssed savingthrows, magic resistance, and made your characters permanent confused..... (?) save that most tihngs ran okie.

If you want cheese, get the Ettin's Wand, beat pretty much everything in the game with that thing.

It might be able to actually, given that DSotSC's uninstaller doesn't work. At all.

Newer mods tend to be rather better. Much of the stuff at http://www.pocketplane.net/ easily matches the quality of the original game, and there's some BG1 stuff there like Fields of the Dead.

I found some of the things in DSotSC to be helpful (having a bag of holding was great, for instance), but the actual plot was difficult and buggy... despite doing more than a hundred damage to the banshee, we were unable to kill her, and the game just wasn't worth my time to keep fighting with
