What would be the optimum level (and why?) to dual class from Thief to Illusionist?
I know you can mulit-class it but I'd prefer to dual.

I don't think you can dual to Illusionist in Baldur's Gate II. You CAN in BG1, but not BG2. Gnomes can not dual-class, they can only multiclass, and a human will dual-class to a plain mage rather than a specialist. The menu only appears in the first game.

DualClas.2DA only allows you to dual class to true classes not kits.

I wonder if adding additional rows and columns to dualclas.2da would give you other options. Sometimes it works, such as adding spell levels to the MXSPL???.2da files. Sometimes it doesn't, such as trying to add extra skills to skillbrd.2da.

If nobody replies (I'm sure this has been tried and the lack of a mod indicates failure), I'll try some experiments.

Requirement that it be a valid multiclass combination is hard-coded. Here there is no problem.
Probably someone has tried it but I don't know the results. It might be in an omnibus mod someplace for all I know.
