Dual classing and proficiencies

    Okay, so.

    Let's assume I have a fighter dual classing to a thief. I have four proficiency points in Short Sword (one short of Grand Mastery) and two in Dual Wield (one sort of the 0/-2 third point.) When I dual class, I will get two proficiency points. If I put one into Short Sword and one into Dual Wield, when my fighter levels reactivate will I get grand mastery and 0/-2? Essentially, I'm wondering if proficiency points from two classes will add to eachother or if the higher one will take effect and the others will be wasted.
