No it isnt. The only characters in SoA that can wear the Carsomyr are paladins. If you have Throne of Bhaal installed [snip].

Minsc is a ranger and so you can not duel him to a paladin,
I would recommend Keldorn if you want a paladin in you party ;)

A- Paladins cannot be multiclassed or dualclassed to.

B- At 18(93)-16-16-8-6-9, Minsc cant even dual to cleric, which IIRC is the only option for a ranger.

Sure as hell sucks that that one of the most powerful weapons is for pallies only.

Suck it up and pass Carsomyr, lad. It's an overpowered weapon, but I'm sure you'll be able to get through SOA without it.

Anyway in terms of pure melee:

Kensai + Celestial Fury > Any paladin + Carsomyr

Keep that Kensai and keep on truckin'!

Jan can use Carsomyr, at a really high level.

Your only other option is to dual your kensai to Thief.

    Only Paladins can use Carsomyr.

You really don't need a paladin. I disagree with Shura that the Kensai + CF is better, but I've beaten the game plenty of times without using a paladin. In fact, it's usually too easy with such a weapon.

The problem with the Kensai is that ultimate fighting prowess = the worst survival rate I've ever seen in a class that can reach -10+ THAC0.

It get worse when you're surrounded by fighters, and in this case I'll take a Paladin over a Kensai every time.

I'd like to know what was the best AC you can get in the game. For Kensai and others.
IIRC -10AC is as far as Ive ever got in the game. Cant think what a non armour wearing Kensai may get.

@Shura: Expected that from you. Waiting for Chevy now.

I've got to around -16 in AC. However, you can get much lower than that if you solo or play with a small party, and don't have to worry about dividing the equipment between 6 different characters. I would say consertatively, that with the best equipment you could easily get to -20. Possibly even as low as -25.

As for the initial topic of the thread, remember all dual-classed characters must be valid multi-classed characters as well. So any combination that involves a paladin, barbarian, bard, sorcerer or monk is impossible.

@Aldeth: Are you basing the -20, or even as low as -25 on an unmodded version of the game? Ease of Use allows you to stack items that are normally not stackable, thereby allowing much better AC than is normally allowed. When you gave those numbers, were you assuming that mod installed? If not, what the hell am I missing? I'm sure with buffs up you can probably get there, but I can't imagine how you can get a legit char (no 25 DEX please) down that low. Not that I don't believe you, I'd just love to know HOW!

Edit: Oh, and Bloke. You get Celestial Fury in the Temple district. Eastern side of the map, above the Order of the Most Radiant Heart you'll see a big building. I think it's blue. In there is where you find the Celestial Fury. And yes, it is one bad ass katana!

-10 is the best AC any character can get without 'extremely powerful magics' is what I recall reading somewhere.
I don't think it sucks at all that Carsomyr is only allowable to Paladins - that is the whole point of the system i.e. that those who make the necessary sacrifices of Paladinhood, get rewarded. In pencil and paper D&D, the Paladin can only ever have ten magical items, cannot keep *any* wealth, *must* give away ten percent of all his wealth to his church or a charity, must observe the laws of the land, vacinity, establishment etc. or face losing his status, among other restrictions. Being a pillar of society and a leader by example isn't meant to be easy, the point being that from such good come great rewards.

Lowest legit AC possible is -27, which only a PC Blade can reach in SoA.
I heard the true limit's a bit lower than that, but that's the figure.

-14 AC is pretty easy to get with drow equipment.

Scythesong, what equipment (and spells) is that PC blade using? There's no chainmail in the game with AC better than 1.

As far as the Infinity Engine is concerned, the limit is much lower than that. With only the items in SoA, however, the absolute lowest (unmodded) is probably about -20 with buffs.

Slayer Form + Defensive Spin. Rounded off with other buffs, imagine the odds. :)
The only problem is the Slayer Timer, so yet again a Blade can only be so powerful for so short a time.

I've actually tried to get my AC lower than this with just about any item and spell I could think of back in SoA, but the figures simply wouldn't change, and that's why I assumed the cap.

One of those probably sets your AC to a certain, unalterable state (some armors are supposed to do this), I'll take a look at appraise you of the results.
