[IMG] I have completed all the tasks in the level 4 dungeon in Durlag's tower. I have answered all the golem's questions in the 3 golem rooms. Durlag's ghost has promised to lead me to the final battle with the Demonknight, yet when I follow him to the final locked door, he disappears and the door remains locked. Should I be carrying something that I don't know about in order for the door to open?

    Geez, it's been so long...

You may need a wardstone to pass through that door. If I remember correctly, the ghost walks up the path to the north, and there are three exits to that main room, a path to the south (the way you came) a door to the east, and a door to the west. The east door leads to the demon knight (although there is another room in between) and then there is the western door, which leads to a couple of those armored skeleton things (can't remember their name). If there isn't a runestone in there, then I can't imagine where else it could be. You could always ask Durlag's wife to teleport you out of there if you don't want your game to just end, although I admit it's a major bummer to do all of Durlag's Tower, and then not get to face the Demon Knight.

I killed the skeleton warriors and picked up the bone wardstone which I put into the machine to untrap the long carpet, clicked on the bed and wound up in the compass room where I answered the question correctly and got teleported back to the entrance. I cleared all three areas and entered the compass room three times. Each time I answered the questions correctly and got teleported back to the entrance. By this time I was carrying a ton of wardstones, but still could not get through the locked door after talking to Durlag's ghost. I'm stumped. Is this ringing any bells? By the way, not only do you not get to fight the Demonknight, you miss out on the dagger and the biggest fight of all, back at Ulgoth's Beard. Thanks for the response.

It's been so long since I did Durlag's Tower, I've forgotten a lot of it, but I know precisely the area you are talking about. The locked door I take it is the east exit of the room. I really thought that Durlag unlocked it for you after correctly answering the questions. Either him or his wife. The more I think about it, I don't think you require any wardstone. You have to answer the questions before entering. It should be unlocked if you've done everything. The only suggestion I have is to "cheat" the item into your inventory, and then head back to Ulgoth's Beard.

Thanks, Aldeth. I went to the forum at Bioware and found that there is a bug in TOSC that, if (like me) you do everything there is to do in the game, you run out of variable space and things stop working properly. I have downloaded the patch that is supposed to fix the problem. The bad news is that I will (I am informed) have to start the whole level again (horrors). Thank goodness I have a library full of saved Games! Advice to all adventurers: Save often and keep all your saves.
