Apart from Dragonshard, GameSpy has also recently previewed Dungeons & Dragons Online. However, this time, under the facade of fancy language you won't find much information. Still, perhaps it's a worth read. And you can behold the screenshots. Here's a clip:

Competition in the MMO space might be stiff of late, but that ain't stopping Turbine and Atari from showing what they're packing. With D&D Online, the duo expects to stake its claim on a category within which many would argue they're entitled a spot. After all, if it weren't for D&D, said category might not even exist.

Anyway, the build of D&D Online on display showed a game significantly further along than the last time I saw it. The game's environments seemed to be in a much more navigable state, and the encounters that our host walked seemed very fleshed out and eventful. More importantly, though, were the host of touches that have been added to the game that make it feel more D&D. Let's face it: most MMOs have drawn so heavily from the same wellspring that D&D -- and fantasy gaming at large -- has, so it's essential that it D&D Online take any possible steps to lend it this kind of distinction. But if what was shown at the demo continues to be fleshed out, then D&D heads should be pleased.
