May the blood of your enimies bath your battleaxe. To all Dwarves of course. May your blood bath my battleaxe you weak frail little elves. Does anyone else out there think that Dwarves are the master race and why would anyone take a human? Humans get no bonus' for the computer version of the game. By Moradin's Hammer, Humans get a few neat things in the actual game, extra feats and whatnot, but in Baulders Gate they get chopped down at the knees so I can punch 'em in the head.

 

Dwarvers cirtainly rule but your "I am a Dwarve so all Elves sould be killed-mentality sux Elves and Dwarves can live in harmony, look at Gimli and Legolas and learn from it.

 

Or look at Kaigan and how he dislikes elves Thinks they are a bunch of pansies. What do you elf-lovers have to say to that? Kaigan is great, being a dwarf he gets a high constitution and in terms of hitpoints is blowing my other characters away.

 

Just as in real life, a strong person isn't always a cool person. For Dwarves rule but elves rule too!

 

I dont mind dwarves, untill they start PICKING ON ELVES! =)

I just think elves are better, who wants to be a fat-little-snorting-smelly-ugly-bursting-barrel-of-ale anyway

 

And even on SP, you'll see the Punishment of Eru Iluvutar to Aulë.

Aulë created the 7 Elder Dwarves without telling it to Eru. And Eru said: What have you done? Aulë said: You gave me the power of creating things and the will to create new things. Should a father punish his son when he tries to look at him and when he uses the skills that he learned to him? But it was wrong, shall I destruct them? And he took his hammer with tears in his eyes and prepared to slay the dwarves. But Iluvutar said: No, they shall live but not yet. But there will be war between your people and my people, but not always. And Eru took the dwarves and laid them under a mountain till they woke up many many years later.

 

Solidarity, Brother! Dwarven Ale all round! But mojo, dwarves do not rule. The dwarven proletariat is criminally repressed in this elf- and homocentric world. There be much work to be done afore people of all heights can live together as bretheren.

 

Of course dwarves are the best race.

Dwarves are great. They're just the right height to set your beer on!!!

 

Reasons for liking dwarves:

• Dwarves live in large, beautiful self-crafted caves
• Dwarves use huge axes for weapons
• Dwarves have high strength and stamina
• Dwarves are rich
• Dwarves are isolated and few like to travel
• Dwarves have cool beards
• Dwarves live long, but are not immortal (immortal is lame)
• Dwarves values their origin (they will always tell you the names of their father, grandfather and some distant royal or heroic family if you ask them about their name)

 

And they have great craft in creating weapons.

 

But then again elves love and value natural beauty making them almost completley compatable with becoming one with the earth -druids. And as we all know, elves are killers with a bow. We elves can pot even the mightest human archers from a good distance!

 

But can you become a Paladin?
Ahhh you see humans have their vantages aswell. And i could out drink a Dwarf any day!!!

 

Avooch, I'm not a racist like creators of d&d. I think dwarves can become paladins really, however some of those d&d rules creators didn't like them, so they cut badly their possible classes.

Yet, I'm always playing as half-elf. I don't feel that this race is above other races - I simply like it. It is not the race that determines can you or not wipe out another race - it is state of the mind.

So I like all races, they make things more interesting if you are able to understand them all. Dwarves don't generally rule in my case - but some of Dwarf heroes indeed rule!

Such as Balin! Oin, Gloin, Thorien, Kili, Fili, Gimli, Dwalin, Ori, Dori, Nori, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur.

Yep...thats the 14 heroic dwarves from Lord of the Rings!

 

Contrary to popular opinion... dwarves/dwarfs suck!!!!
They sit around getting drunk and they have really odd looking beards (take for example Yeslick..he actually let himself get caught by the iron throne rather then dieing honourably in battle like any true fighter.)
Elves are far cooler . they are tall languid graceful and Their swords are far cooler then any dwarfen axe. Anyone who has ever read the novel "CORMYR" or the Drow elf trilogy will tell you that.

What have the elves ever done for us? Yes literature, but apart from that? OK, OK art, yes, magic, Protection from the Drow? Yes, yes, but apart from art, literature, magic and protection from the Drow, what have the elves ever done for us?

 

I won't argue about the "best" race in fantasy literature but in BG and BG2 humans have the ability to dual class and no other race can create a character that comes even close to the power of a well developed dual classed human.
