I don't know if this issue has ever been addressed, but in my game, when night-time comes, a dreaded evil follows. I don't mean ghouls and vampires, I mean the crickets that manage to be louder than any sound in the game.
Is there a mod that silences or makes the night-time cricket sounds quieter? I have to have my speaker volume fairly high just to hear my characters' voices, but when the crickets start chirping it's deafening.
    Can anyone assist me?

That's weird. Try disabling EAX from sound options. If it fails or is already disabled, turn off ambient sound to get rid of background noise. Hope it helps.

Well I didn't intend to get rid of all background noise altogether, just the one sound that for some reason is much louder than anything else. Is there a way that I could find the sound file and replace or edit it?

Isn't there a volume for sound effects, music and character voices? Maybe the sound effects volume is turned up too much? Or the rest of them too low?

Turn off Environmental Audio in the Sound Menu. You can also adjust ambient and sound effect volume.

That's the thing, I'm trying to get rid of that individual sound. If I turn down all the environmental sounds the only one I'm ever going to hear is the crickets.
