    Not really a discussion I want, but a question answered. I posted here because it will degrade into some sort of argument about the merits of British/Norman conquest. :rolleyes:

    Why was Edward Longshanks call Longshanks? Did he have long legs or something? :confused:

    Simply because he was a very tall guy. Nothing more as far as I know. No joke.

    He was also an incredibly strong monarch (if a little... ruthless).

    6' 2" which for that time was tall as the average height was about 5' 6"

    That's not actually that tall for these days is it? I suppose they weren't as well nourished as we are these days though. My brother is 6'6" and Jack's expected height at 18 is 6'9"! Guess we're a tall family, I'm 5' 10" which is tall for a girl.

    Since is normally added by the legs and not the torso I imagine he did have long legs. And yes we have been getting taller over the years.
