[IMG] I bought an 18rep before getting them both. I thought I was safe. Damn, wrong again! :( In the Illithid Caverns, you free the slaves right? Well when I did that, I went up to 19rep and they both just up and left. So I just wanna ask, Howmuch rep do I lose if I kill the Slaves instead, and how much do I get for saving them again? Was it 45000 or 4500? Can't remember  Anyways, I would appreciate any non-sarcastic advice, heh. ThanxVewyMuch

For exp it was a 45000. I never tried to kill them. I think the best way is to Slayer-change, then proceed as before to receive your exp and the +1 rep. You will end up with 17, and if you want to bring it back to 18 you can free the slaves in Ust Natha (+1 rep and 7500 exp).
If you decide to do that, it is better done after you have spoken to Matron Mother Ardulace, because the slave trader will offer a discount to you as the ally of the Despana house.

Of course, the option to use the Slayer change (wasn't that a spoiler abover) isn't nomally open to people who are doing the slave quest. It can be if you go to rescue Imoen early enough but I think it's unlikely. Anyway, there are a number of other ways you can get your reputation to drop a bit. There was an extensive discussion about it a while back. In summary, you can get caught stealing, slap a peasant, kill people, break into a nobles house or keep having Viconia join, leave and rejoin. Have a look at these for some ideas:

Unfortunatley, I don't know the specific details of being 'bad' in the slaves quest but as you'll see in the links, there are lots of ways or reducing reputaton. Oh one other thing, one of the posts suggests killing people to lower rep. This works but the amount you lose depends on your exisitng rep. Being at 18 will see a major drop down to about 11 I think if you kill an innocent.

You might also want to look at some of the hints/walkthroughs on the site:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index.php

I know the IGN Baldur's Gate II Walkthrough has a section called extra features. At the end of this is an overview of the evil quests you can do.

PS. be careful of dropping your rep if you have Pladins or rangers in the group. They will lose their special abiliites if it drops too much.
