I may just be crazy, but I'm sure that whenever I've fought Efreeti (like the one Kangaxx summons), they use Fireshield and Fireball (among other spells). But when I summon my own, he doesn't have those spells. Are friendly Efreeti and hostile Efreeti two different creatures, or do I just have a faulty memory?

I don't recall exactly. It is possible that Fireshield is an innate ability, rather than a known spell. Also, the efreetis that you summon yourself may use a different script to enemy summoned efreetis. The ones I've summoned appear simply to whack the enemies with their longswords.

I've another question about efreetis: how do you kill them without them going into gaseous form? I've found that I often have to fight them three times. Also, the gaseous form appears to be a capability only of enemy Efreetis.

My memory isn't the best, since it has been a long time since I last played the game (one to many sinces in that sentence!), so forgive me if I'm wrong. From memory, I'm sure that when you summon dht Efreeti it comes with a fireshield (red) around it already, sort of like the Prince Air element comes with the flying blades around him. But Fireballs? I can't remember that. Prehaps it is in the speacil abilities section thingy.

And as for Chris's question all I can remember, which may not be for certain, is there is away. I'm not to sure if you can kill the summoned ones when they turn hostile, but the normal ones it just takes a bit of hacking to kill.

You can select your summoned Efreeti and tell them what spells to cast. Do it the same way you would a party member. They don't have a portrait, but you can select the on-screen avatar.

Yeah, that gaseous form thing is really annoying, since you have to fight him from scratch all over again. Almost as annoying as a vampire turning into a bat and you lose out on the experience.

As far as I know, the only way to prevent this is to kill him before he gets the chance to run away. So hit him until he is Near Death, and then hit him hard in a quick flurry somehow.

The summoned ones are so much easier... death spell or death fog works like a charm.

And about the spells... not sure. I'm confident that my summoned Efreeti has Invisibility and Flame Arrow, but can't remember the rest.
