Like the topic so eloquently suggests, this thread is about energy. More specifically, the energy in our bodies and what you do, eat, or drink to gain it to survive your day.

Personally, I take one of those "performance" daily multi-vitamins (a pill with massive amounts of B vitamins and 100% of everything else) and a Mt. Dew as I'm driving to work. That usually lasts until my first break, but by that time the boost I got from the pill has worn off and I’m needing another Mt. Dew and some sugar to get back in the game.

So my question to you is: what do you do to get more energy when you need it? :hmm: :rolling:

Force myself to live through the hell of being severely sleep deprived and without any form of a stimulant.

Nothing is more fun then sleeping in rush hour.

    I have migraine :(

Even though that doesn't nearly get to the levels my sis has to endure.

I generally just drag myself through the low. Sometimes I eat some dark chocolate or have a coke. You can also try to mentally induce an adrenaline-rush in your system.

Have a cold beer and a fag. Good pick-me-up at any time of day.

I agree with having a smoke. A change of scenery sometimes helps wake me up.

    :coffee:
    :coffee2:
    and more :coffee:

Actually I drink very little caffeinated :coffee2: throughout the day - *maybe* one cup in the morning, and one after lunch. More than that and I get shaky.

Personally I find that a protein-rich diet, consumed throughout the day, is a good way to stop those lulls from happening. When they do, I either push through, have :coffee: (yes, or tea!), or try to take a little walk outside. Sugar helps temporarily, and I'd rather not get fat for something that doesn't really work. :p

Quod erat demonstrandum. To my late amazement, this isn't random babbling.

As for energy, I rely on coffee, on coffee with sugar and chocolate, on dextrogen, on cookies. And lots of water. Have a walk.

When I have time, I go running. That chases the last bit of tiredness out of you. You get a real oxygen high.

I used to rely on a few strong cups of coffee in the morning and some sugar, but found I would crash pretty bad mid to late afternoon. Now I hit the gym a quarter to 6 every morning for an hour before work. It gets your blood and metabolism pumping early and sustains your energy - in a healthy way - better than any stimulant. I drink a little green tea now while I work, but that's more for the taste than the caffeine. I don't drink enough of it for the caffeine to affect me much.

Never thought of myself as a morning person, but now I can't imagine doing it any other way. :)

    @ Kit,

I don't know how you do it. Soda in the morning makes me nauseous, even in high school. Too much acid and artificial gunk. Blegh.

Tea. Green or black, doesn't matter.

When I'm really tired, I take two or three spoons of a special black tea blend called Ostfriesentee (named after a certain region in Germany) on one cup. It's only drinkable with a lot of milk, but it gets me going.

I drink coffee only when I'm really tired and I absolutely have to stay awake.

Any really bad tasting energy drink, I don't know if they really have any effect on me anymore, but they just taste so horrible.

Music, water and dry bread help too.

I unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) can't rely on tea or coffee or any other hot drinks because they simply taste horrible to me...so its juice and squash and coke/lemonade etc.

Jam on toast is also good :D

Diet Coke. Not the best tasting thing early in the morning, but I hate coffee and tea. I've never tried energy drinks and don't really have much interest in doing so. A good (but not heavy) breakfast also helps. Alas, I usually don't make the time to eat breakfast so I'm relegated to the sodas.

Breakfast. Luckily I'm not working yet so I don't have to arrive early and on time, so I haven't resorted to coffee just yet.

Coffee got me through my internship. Coming in at 830am hungover. Ugh.

8 hours of sleep will get me through most any day. Barring that, biking to work will keep me awake for the first 2-3 hours, and after that I usually just suffer through any sleepy periods I might have. Occasionally I'll have a cup of coffee, though it's mostly for taste, not for staying awake.

Coffee, coffee, tea, and more coffee. Seriously I don't know what I'll do without it!
