I wonder if people here who of course like fantasy also listen to epic music.

I'm a great fan of Rhapsody, a band that makes Epic Symphonic Metal. The lyrics of the band are about a fantasy-story in Tolkien-style.

Someone else listen to this band or to other epic music?

I'm 100% with you on this :D. Have you tried Blind Guardian's 'Somewhere far beyond'? It's a concept album based on the works of some of their favourite writers (Tolkien, Lovecraft etc.). For me it's their best so far. And I love the accent; it matches the whole Gothic-fantasy style.

No haven't tried that yet, thanks for the tip. I now listen Rhapsody and Twilight Guardian. Rhapsody is great. When you wanna try it, download the number Warrior of Ice!

Never heard of either of the bands, and also have no idea what "epic" music is. I like most types of music, and my CD collection is a few classical CDs I've managed to buy/ recieve as gifts/ "borrow" from my dad.

agreed about Rapsody and Blind Guardian.
The most "classic" epic metall band is said to be "Manowar" and most famous album "Kings of Metall"

[IMG] Handel's Messiah - does that count? Soulful, spiritual, a joy to listen to, quite long - an epic. No speed riffs though.

[IMG] When I hear epic, I think of Wagner, Chaikovsky, Borodin, Orff, or John Williams...Or maybe that Faith NO More song from the 80's... :D

With Epic Music I mean the lyrics are based on fantasy... that's what's Rhapsody is like and why I post it her, it just fits in the whole Fantasy-scene on Sorcerer's.

    Manowar is also great!

    Hey,
I'm curious as to what epic music is. I have an idea because of Headbanger's comments on "fantasy lyrics." If that is the case, it seems quite interesting. I am a poet and my poetry is based on fantasy. If you could tell me a little more I would really apreciate it. Please feel free to email me at
    tj-ehancock02@seovec.org.
    Thank you.
