I've been playing through Torment again, and have run into a little bit of a problem. Every time I try to load the game, i get the same error message and Torment cuts off.

"Runtime Error: Abnormal program termination" and something about it being the actual Torment.exe file. I have done the "full install" and copied the cds to my hard drive, and i've patched the game, but other than that, nothing.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Forgot my system specs. I'm using a computer with WinME, 224 MB Ram, and an Intel Celeron 1.70 GHz processor. My video card is an S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR, specifically a ProSavage P4DDR Rev A. It's a PCI card. My audio is a VIA'97 Enhanced Audio (Wave) and that's all dxdiag tells me about it.

I tried disabling hardware acceleration, both for video and audio, and still had the same trouble.

Could be WindowsME. It's the worst of the Windows operating systems. You should ditch it, anything is better than ME.

Yes, the old 4cd version. And I can't ditch WinME yet, I don't have anything else. I plan on getting Win98 when I can, but I have other things to worry about at the moment.

I remember when I first played Torment, I ran into a similar problem (don't recall if it was the same error or not), and it was recommended to me (by Taluntain) to delete the game cache, which worked and got it running again.

I never had a problem with it after the full install, though.

    Edited because I'm a retarded one-armed monkey.
