I said in another thread in another forum that I have never been able to bring myself to take the evil path through BG2. However, I would be interested to hear others' experiences.

For example, I've never sided with Bodhi? Should you do so, who will leave your party? How hard is it to wipe out the Shadow Thieves? Can you still get the Mace of Disruption?

Likewise, I've never fought Adalon. I would imagine that she's a lot tougher than the other dragons in the game. Besides which, I've never had a charcter capable of wearing the Human Flesh armour (which I understand to be a rather un-evil shade of pink). What is the effect on reputation of killing her? Does attacking her cause anybody to leave?

I've never even dreamed of fighting Drizzt and his friends. Those who have done so, how did you find them? I would imagine that there is a BIG reputation drop for killing such a hero. I have also heard tell that Jaheira leaves rather than fight them. Is this true?

I've only played evil once, and did a crappy job of it, because I kept doing good deeds. I can answer only a few of your questions:

I don't think anyone will leave if you side with Bodhi, but some might complain.

As usual, I had completed most of the Ch 2 quests before choosing sides, so wiping out the Shadow Thieves wasn't very difficult.

I couldn't get the Mace of Disruption.

That's about all I can help you with; as I said, I play good or neutral better than I do evil.

Don't expect Keldorn to stick around if you side with Bodhi. Once you do so, however, the super assassin for the Shadow Thieves will not appear any longer. It isn't that difficult to wipe them out and is in fact easier to do so than the hordes of vamps.
You can get your Mace of Disruption later in the game if you do so.

Adalon is a standard dragon. Just do the usual: Buff, haste, breach, summon and she falls like the rest. The Human Flesh Armor is actually rather weak and it looks really dumb.
(I, Tyrannor, Warlord of Darkness shall crush you! -The effect is drastically lessened when he's wearing a pink costume)

As for Drizzt and his posse, it's a tough battle indeed as you have no time to buff and summon before the battles start. No fighter in SOA can go toe to toe with Drizzt and Catti-Brie's bow makes short work of any mage. The rest are little more than annoyances, although Burenor has a LOT of hitpoints. Use a wand of monster summoning and start off by dropping a few beasts on top of Cattie Brie. Send a fighter to engage Wulfgar and another to engage Burenor. Use another charge on your wand to distract Drizzt. A death spell takes care of Guen.

Cast True Sight with your cleric. Meanwhile, your other mage should be pulling Mordakainen's swords out of his/her ass all the while. Send 'em all to fight Drizzt. Keep dropping monsters on Cattie Brie while your fighters kill Burenor and Wulfgar. A Horrid Wilting or Two takes out Regis and accelerates the demise of Burenor and Wulfgar. Once they're down, gang up on Cattie Brie and kill her.

While the Mord Swords distract Drizzt, heal up your fighters with Mass Heal or Heal spells. Then pound on him with everything you got. Result? Drow chunks and some nifty equipment that you cannot keep, unfortunately. They sell for quite a lot of gold though.

My party consisted of Viconia, Edwin, Korgan, Imoen and my PC, a berserker/cleric.

They are worth a lot of XP indeed and there is no reputation loss for killing them.

I know Jahiera will leave, but I'm not sure about Keldorn. It's a good assumption that he'll leave since he's got lots o' respect for Drizzt.

For a level 16 Ranger, Drizzt is one tough mofo, and Cattie-Brie has a really nice bow.

    Shura...
Why can't you keep the stuff? Does what's-his-face come and take it?

Malchor Harpell comes and snatches all the loot away and you can't do anything to stop him.

Jaheira will leave if you fight with Drizzt and Keldorn will actually turn on you and side with Drizzt.

    That's what I've heard anyway.

Well, if you have the Easy-of-Use mod, Malchor Harpell is disabled and you get to keep Drizzt's loot.

And the fight with Drizzt is the only real tough battle you get when playing evil.

IIRC Aerie will leave your party (like Keldorn) if you side with Bodhi. Does anybody know about Mazzy? My guess is that she too will leave...

But it's lame to take the evil path. It's almost impossible to play 'evil' in SoA so why bother...? You end up doing a lot of good deeds anyway.

its not about the deed, its about the reasons you do it... always asking for more money and getting your way through quests using threats and uncalled for violence. An evil person does not need to act like Ming the Merciless, they just need a shallow and self centred focus, not everybody around them needs to know that secretly, they love to slaughter the occasional family picked completely at random.

I find evil more fun because you aren't required to act like a righteous fool who blindly does anything for the good of... well, good. Being valiant gets dull after a while, i like my character to be a bastard sometimes (and thats his name in the game too:))

I don't know about people leaving the parties if you attack Drizzit or side with Bohdi, because when I play evil, I play all evil. I don't need any stinkin' paladins or goody-two-shoes in the group! Although, since Keldorn, Aerie, Mazzy, Jaheira and Anomen (good path) all will leave if your rep gets too low, I imagine any of them are possible canidates to leave.

The Mace of Disruption can still be had (albeit later in the game) if you side with Bohdi, because you still have only one path to take in Chapter 6 (don't want to give details for those who haven't done it get).

Adolon isn't any tougher than any other dragon. I'd say about the same difficulty as Firkraag. Definitely killable. However, the only thing killing her allows you to do is get the Human Flesh armor, and there are no fewer than 2 better armors for theives in the game, so there's really no point, especially considering you would have already been able to access both of those armors long before you leave the Underdark and start Chapter 6.

Drizzit and company is one hell of a bastard to kill. Any one of them individually are no big deal, but in combination they rock your world. I have beaten them, but it usually takes me a couple of tries every play through to do it. On the bright side, they are worth tons of XP's. What doesn't make sense is the battle is a lot harder than it should be. Most of Drizzit's party are about the same or lower in level than your characters, and equipment wise, your characters are usually better. Despite this, they will do a number on you.

I crossed the Shadow Thieves -- and lived! :D

I have two evil groups, one that's only done the Bard stronghold quest, and another that has already sided with Bodhi and wiped out the Shadow Thieves after doing only the Planar Sphere and Renal Bloodscalp quests (funny that he never shows up when you go after his boss -- must be smart guy, saw me coming, heh-heh).

Does anyone know how to take the evil path with the Slaver's quest and still get access to Bernard;s special merchandise...?

@ Victor Eremita: In my experience, Aerie doesn't leave if you side with Bodhi.

Actually, although I said in another thread that I can't bring myself to do anything evil, that was the closest I came, the first time I played through I sided with Bodhi because I was too scared that she would attack and kill me. Mind you, I played through her tasks as un-evilly as I could...
And when I'd sided with Bodhi, I was romancing Aerie, and I got right through the whole game (ToB included) and saw the end result of that romance. It may be a little difficult to keep her, but you can.

"Ya, steal it all before you cross them."

But it isn't even available until you complete the quest, at least not the Copper Coronet part -- or was that not until you clear out the grounded ship...? Then again, do you even get the chance to take out the ones in the ship if you've ratted out Hendak to Lehtinan...?
