[IMG] Is there an expansion pack or a mission pack in the works for Icewind Dale? I thought that perhaps one of you all knowing sorcerers might know of one.

Well there's just one Sorcerer (me) and I never claim to be all knowing. Not yet anyway. ;)
Nothing official has been announced on the IWD expansion, and the feeling I got when talking to a member of the BIS team was that they're all working on another project, not related to IWD.
Expansion at this time also goes contrary to the fact that releasing one at the same time (or even worse, later) as BGII hits the streets is not exactly common sense.
But the fact is that IWD sold VERY well, so they just might release one. We'll have to wait and see.

I don't think they'll release an expansion pack for Icewind Dale, though I do have to qualify this statement by saying I'm by no means "in the know". :)

BIS is probably going to do BGII, NWN, and then might release another "mini-module" similar to Icewind Dale, which may or may not allow you to import characters from IWD... or they might take that time to start working on a new engine, as the Infinity is getting an awful lotta gray hairs.

Either way, I just hope they keep cranking out these great RPGs!

Didn't I hear somewhere that the Expansion Pack would include (A) the fate of Mother Egenia, (B) the contents of the locked house in Kuldahar, and (C) a plotline for 14th Druids left stranded at that level by IWD? Or maybe I dreamed it...

  5. Like a movie, you should ALWAYS leave possibilites open for a sequel. If it tanks, well, you haven't lost anything. And if it succeeds, you have laid down some groundwork for a return.

I have no idea whether there will be a sequel to Icewind Dale, but given the huge success of it, I believe that sooner or later you will see one.
Baldur's Gate 2 should be out soon, and Neverwinter Nights hopefully is close to completion. They have started working on a new project "not related to Baldurs Gate or Neverwinter Nights".

I don't think it's a sequel to Planescape, despite the fact that it was a great game, it sold poorly.

If it was a new game they would have said so.

So what's left? Icewind Dale, and (drum roll....) Fallout 3! Yes folks, I think we will be visiting the waste lands again. About time!

    Did someone say Fallout 3?

All I have to say to that is "Hell yeah!!!"

The Fallout series is still, by far, my favorite of all time. As much as I've loved Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, Fallouts 1 and 2 just rocked them by far. I guess it may be possible for BG2 to finally beat Fallout 2 as my favorite RPG of all time, but it's going to be a tall order indeed. :)

[IMG] Am I the only one who thought Planescape was a beautiful yet BORING game? I spent weeks and weeks playing it and never got out of that damn city. All you do is walk around like a dope and get killed over and over and over and over...no weapons, pathetic magic items, and a lack of interesting party members. Ugh!

I know this isn't a Plannescape Board, but someone else mentioned it and sparked me off. If I have to wake up on that goddam operating table ONE MORE TIME I'M GONNA FREAK! Sorry.

Man I hear you. I hate to sound like a hack and slash freak or something, but I found Torment to be extrememly boring. The Brothel was a boring time for me. I felt like the whole game was built around conversations, with little action.
IWD is alot more fun, but I think I could go for a little more interaction. (I am only starting level 4 now, so maybe there is more I have yet to see.

For those of you who have actually played Fallout (which seems to be only a few people thus far) go to the Miscellaneous RPGs section, it seriously needs some traffic. fallout 3 will be in 3-D, at least thats what I heard. And everyone knows gossip is always right. ;)

[IMG] Well, there is of course the infamous "Fallout Tactics" game that's coming out where you have COMPLETE control over a party of PC's, including perk/skills selection for your personal PC and for the NPC's that join you.

So you WON'T have to worry about your buddy unleashing the full fury of a laser gatling gun into your face.

It's supposed to take the form of various missions that you, as a member of the Steel Brotherhood, have to carry out in the time-frame between Fallout and Fallout 2.

Sorry for the slight tangent, but anyone who likes the BG/IWD/PS games would like Fallout.
    (or should) =)

    Cheers!

I thought Fallout Tactics was going to be more of a strategy game (or whatever) than an RPG. I doubt I will buy it -- nor enjoy it if I did.

I liked all of BG, PS, and IWD. And I liked the first Fallout -- played it through twice. But Fallout 2 I gave up on very early. Just not fun for me. Maybe it was just too much more of the same, or maybe whatever changes they made just made the game worse for me instead of better.

[IMG] I loved both Fallout and Fallout 2. I got hooked on the original wasteland a long time ago. When I heard that Bargo was designing a new updated version 'fallout' I was real happy. It was a great game. And F2 was, some of the same, but the same good stuff. I looked at the BHoS tactics game and it's not really my style. Again I have no solid info that Fallout 3 is being made. The page Eggman directed me to before "the shield of hope' had _no_ real info on the game except a 'it's coming soon'. Which tell us nothing. I'd love to find out some solid info if anyone has some. Thanks.

Fallout 2 is somewhat "more of the same" from Fallout, in that the graphics engine and skills are very similar.

However, though I really liked the first Fallout, it was a limited game, especially the time limit, which I really dis-liked.

Fallout 2 was more epic in scope... with alot more places to visit, more interesting characters to meet, and a much bigger story. I don't see how anyone who liked Fallout could NOT like the sequel! After all, in how many other games can you become a boxing champion AND a pornstar?! :)
