Hey, ok I've heard a lot of cool things about ToB and was wondering if it's just an expansion like ToSC was for BG1. Like will I start from the beginning and such? Or do I start in a new ToB area? Thanks so much for the help!

Immediatly after the finale of BG 2, you'll be taken to Throne of Bhaal. If you've already finished, you can start straight out in TOB by importing your BG 2 character, but I don't think you start with any party members that way, so beware.

Well, ti all depends. You have the option to start at the beginnig of the game and play all the way through, or you can just start at the ToB sections. Personally, I opt for starting at the beginning. SoA is not to be missed.

    1. You can start TOB with your existing SOA party, which is to be recommended. Also this way your existing romance will continue.

Watchers Keep is accessible from SOA and TOB so you can do parts of it earlier to get some better equipment for the SOA bit.

    2. You can also start TOB with a new game. I do this quite often when testing out what certain classes/kits are like at higher levels. Also, after you've done the first little battle you can get any NPC in your party (including Yoshimo) and this is a good way of seeing what different NPCs are like in battle. No romance this way though. You also miss out on the strongholds and certain magic items - like carsomyr.

Personally, I only use the second option when testing out characters and parties. When I want to complete the game properly then I always choose option 1. SOA is just too good to miss.

You can't get Yoshimo. If you try, the Fate Spirit says that he's dead.

@Rastor: You can only get him if you start a new TOB game, but not when continuing a SOA game.

u CAN save yoshimo, not his life though, only his soul.

if he is in your party when talking to irenicus for the first time in spellhold (when you first enter it, the guide) he will turn traitor.
later he will attack you when you have defeated irenicus and he flees, kill yoshimo and grab his heart. go to the temple in the slums, athkathla and talk to the priest.
thus you save his soul.......only way to save his life is to keep him out of your party ;)

    anyway, answer to the topic:

you can start a new game in shadows of amn, or throne of bhaal.

You can also import any shadows of amn games into throne of bhaal, though i recommend you to import soa - final saves only.

another thing is watchers keep, you can enter and finish it whenever you wish, exept for when you are in spellhold and those areas.

I highly recommend you to create a new game, and play through shadows of amn (and watchers keep if you wish) before you take on throne of bhaal, thus you get the whole story with you, and when you have finished soa, meaning killed irenicus, you see the final movie with the guys sitting and talking around the table with the Bhaal sign, you will automaticaaly continou in throne of bhaal.

this makes you feel that it is connected together, and is a way better experience than simply importing an old game right away or just start a new game in throne of bhaal.

anyway, be sure you get the latest patch if you are planning to play online. most people there have the patch, so if you wanna play online, get the patch. (in case you dont know it, get gamespy arcade, create a free account, and you can much easlier join online games).

    SPOILERS:

    Note: you probably remember dualclassing.
and how useless it was in shadows of amn.
but now, since the xp limit have been raised, Dualclasses is among the most powerful chars you can get.

search around, ask around, to get tips on dualclassing.

    i strongly recommend it.

How does that save his life? He dies as soon as you enter the Copper Coronet (or wherever you put him).
