Experience from monsters killed by summoned creatures!

I really don't know if already exists a topic about this, so...
When you kill a monster with a summoned creature, the experience from it is the same as if you had killed it by yourself? Or does it come in smaller portion?

 

I'm not entirely sure about this one, but since summoning is magic, it should count as the same as killing him with a magic missile...

 

It should be easy to test, even in the beginning of the game. Just have Jaheira memorize a few animal summoning spells and rest as soon as you can in Irenicus' dungeon. As soon as you run into the first batch of goblins, send the summoned animals after them and DO NOT attack yourself. They should kill off at least one of them, and just watch the screen for any experience.

Good question though - I've been wondering that myself.

 

Yeah, I thought about it for some time sice my first kill with that Mordekainen Sword(bla bla..I forgot how it is written...so sorry if it's wrong)...but I never remember to question this...I will try this just when I finally install the game... (sorry if I'm a little now)something has happened to my computer that it refuses to reinstall it!! I becoming angry!! But it's okay!! Thanks a lot people!!

 

You do get the same exp. I tested on the Shadow Dragon. Although, if you check "Information" and most powerful vanquished, the summoner does not get the kill the Aerial Servant I had summoned and whom stroke the leathal blow got it (not that you could check it on it though). Therefore I reloaded and killed it without the Servant and I had the same amount of exp both times afterwards. So summon away dudes and dudettes =)

 

If you summon a gate and it kills something you do not get xp. Anything else, you do.

 

But that's only the amount you see on the screen. But the summon could be treated as party member and would get its portion as well, but you would recognize it only in the character screen provided that you know how much XP the character had before and after killing with and without the summon in party.

You get the XP, but I don't remember if it counts as earned by the one that summoned the creature. For example if your elemental summoned by Jaheira killed a dragon, I'm not sure if you would see the dragon as Jaheira's killing record.

 

You won't. She wasn't the one that killed it, the elemental was.

 

Which is why the kill record isn't really all that good for determining a character's relative worth and/or value to the party. I use a LOT of summoning!
