    [IMG] I'm sure the good old "kick your party out and scribe all the spells yourself" trick is quite common knowledge by now, but I decided to do some mundane calculations on HOW much it actually helps.

    Short summary: Under the exp cap of 2,95M, dual class to mage from *any* level is possible just by using scrolls. Read on, if you want to know how.

    If you scribe ALL the spells between levels 1-8 in one go into your spellbook, you'll get 730,000 experience points! If you're not too big on using 9th level spells from scrolls, you could scribe those too for an extra 144,000 exp. Of course you can't carry that many scrolls yourself, but you can juggle your other party members in between so that they can carry the remaining scrolls.

    So, what does this tell us?

    The Easy way:
    =============
    Just using the spell scrolls you can buy/steal in Athkatla and find in Irenicus' Dungeon, getting to 250k exp is a no-brainer. So, if you dual from a fighter at level 9, you'll get your fighter abilities back just by scribing scrolls.

    The Hard way:
    =============
    If you dual at level 13 (max for dual), you'll have to do quite many quests to get there in the first place, so it's pretty safe to assume that you'll get access to at least 90% of the scrolls in the whole game by that point. You'll also find it's totally possible to gather the exp without even starting chapter 3, by playing with a smaller party and doing most of the quests.

    Now, 90% of 730k is only 657k, so we're almost 900k short of the 1,5M that is required to make that level 14 as mage. But no worries, there's NPC mages out there as well!

    If you let one of the NPC mages join your party at a time and scribe scrolls, you'll get half the amount that you'd get by scribing solo. By taking into account that all NPC mages start with some spells already scribed, you'd probably get max 80% of that 730k total scribed by them, half of which is 40%. So, we're looking at 292k exp per NPC. Therefore, after three NPCs, you should be able to gather enough exp to reach 1,5M.

    Since there's a total of five (5) NPCs available that can scribe scrolls (I'm not counting Haer'Dalis here), you'll see that making enough exp shouldn't be a problem at all.

    That 730k exp equals almost two full levels of experience, so a mage can be seen as having +2 extra levels in comparison to a sorcerer, who can't get exp by scribing scrolls.
