Expertise Problem

    One of my characters is a Strongheart Halfling, currently Fighter 4/Ranger 3/Rogue 5. One of the feats I gave him early on was Expertise, which I've been using pretty regularly throughout. Now, for some reason, I can't use the feat: the special abilities button is grayed out. He hasn't lost any Intelligence, and another character, a Moon Elf Paladin 5/Evoker 7, can use his Expertise feat just fine. Any thoughts?

    I don't have ID2 installed so I can't test this, but is it possible that his INT has temporarily fallen below 13?

    I don't have a clue, but I'm going to go over two things I can think of off-hand to double check. I'm not trying to be condescending.

    Ok, this should be a no-brainer, but have you checked to make sure that Power Attack isn't enabled somehow? Perhaps you went for Cleave and power attack is turned on. They are mutually exclusive.

    Also, make sure you're using a melee weapon that can't be thrown. No throwing axes, slings, haft-over-head/dullcobler, darts, etc. Try removing all the character's weapons & shields from the quickslots and putting them on the ground, then put them back.

    If you have DaleKeeper, you might want to make sure you have a charge of expertise. I had similar problem when editing pre-generated characters and when I added Rapid Shot it was unavailable until I added a charge.
