Oh my god Haer'Dalis sucks. If anyone can find a good reason to keep him please tell me because he really sucks.(I just can't get over how crappy he is)

 

You get to fight over Aerie with him, the wuss.

 

The only use I found for him was the use I found in the last game for Khalid--the immense joy of killing the idiot.

Why yes, he is even worse than Khalid. Didn't like him the first time I saw him. Was thinking of hiring him too, but as soon as he opened his mouth I knew he was an asswipe. Wouldn't kill him though.

 

Are you insane? Just remove his armour and
he's a decent spellcaster.
With 2 weapons and a girdle of strength
he is a bad-ass in combat and he can turn himself nearly invulnerable!

I gave Haer'Dalis the best possible items you can find in the game. Ring of gaxx ect..

He claims his sword skill is second to Drizzt's only. So I took him in my party and I must of ressurected that guy about 100 times from Chapter 2 to chapter 6. Even at max out level 23 he sucks like S**T with a crappy THACO, he spells are low level spells only and useless against most monsters.

He then challenged me for Aerie which i killed him in lest than 2 seconds with only 2 hits. Are his fighting skills are second only to Drizzt's? If so there must be a bug in the game or he just may be a complete prick.

 

Is there really any use for bard in any party

 

Take Haer'Dalis with you and find out if has is as good as Drizzt's has he claims to be.

i mean a THAC0 of 13/15 is great...oh wait at that time mine was 3/5...he is crxp.i wonder why i freed him...twice.

Bards COULD be of some use in P&P (we had one...) but in CRPGs you'll always find better companions, specially in BG2

 

Well, my PC is currently a Blade, and I like him a lot, really. Currently at level 16, proficient in Katana's and Long Swords, 3 stars in Dual-wield, equiped with the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength and the Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise he has a nice THACO of 6/8. Plus Stoneskin and Mirror Image he's pretty nice in combat, and with a Tenser's Transformation he becomes such a tank that he simply wipes Korgan out in the blink of an eye! (THACO's become -8/-6, 180HP, AC-8)

Not bad for a measle bard, imho

 

But with Korgan, he can be a grand master in War hammers and give him Crom which puts his strength to 25 and at level 19 he has about 120-140 HP, THACO -15, and a AC of -18 if you beef him up with Red Dragon Scales, Ring of Gaxx, Ring of Protection, Clock of the Sewers, Sentinel shield +4, Helm of Buldaran, Necklace of Spell Warding, Girdle of Inertial Barrier, Boots of speed, gauntlets of Dexterity. He has massive saving throwns against spells, Almost impossible to hit and does 4 attacks per round with 25-70 Damage per hit which he never misses a hit.

He can go one on one with a Adamandite Gloem or even Drizzt's. Theres no way Haer'Dalis could do that. No matter what equipment you beef him up with or spells he cast's on him self. His protection spell wear off too quick and then he gets pounded with a few hits and dies. He just sucks big time!

If I had a choice between Khalid from BG1 or Haer'Dalis, I pick Khalid over him any time.
