The cap 8,000,000 XP, thats 2,666,666 per class.
Should be about F/M/T 18/17/22, you can look at the experience tables to verify this.
Depending on your playing style it's not granted that you'll reach the cap.

I always cap out my characters in BG1 and BG2 before I had ToB. I was just wondering What to expect for my multi class F/M/T. Thanks.

A Fighter/Mage/Thief would be powerful indeed, but do you really think it's worth the wait in ToB? I mean, you won't reach very high levels so that means you won't get many HLA's, if any. Has anyone played ToB as a F/M/T and found it easy?

You'll get HLA's once you reach 3,000,000 xp in total, so that's 1 million per class. And whether or not you reach the experience cap completely depends on how many people you've got in your party. If you have 6 people in your party, you most likely will reach 6-7 million xp. If you have a 4 person party, you'll probably cap out just before the final fight. If you solo you'll cap out long before you even meet JonBon in Hell.

And Abdel, capping out in ToB isn't as easy as you might have thought from BG1 and SoA. There's only a limited amount of xp and not that many side quests to boost your xp.

What I'm actually interested in, is if you get the ninth level spells at mage level 17. That is, can you cast Time Stop with your F/M/T?

No, you get 9th level spells (wizard) when you reach level 18, uh oh ... does that mean you WON'T be able to cast 9th level spells at all if you play as a F/M/T? Seriously, I would hate to play as one and then regret it half way becaue i hadn't done the math! I guess the character will still be a powerhouse though.

Yeah, the no ninth level spells thing is my biggest problem with F/M/Ts. No time stop and no chain contingency makes me sad.

There is an unlimited amount of xp in tob, you just stand with an archer at like north northeast in saradush and make sure you have the script standard attack on and leave for some hours :p but then you could just cheat

Didn't know about that. Sometimes, if I have a fighter heavy party, I go in the slave tunnels in Sendai's lair and just slaughter the slaves until I'm fed up with it. I think it's faster than your method too.

Well I have XP cap disabler, and my F/M/T is capable of casting Time Stop now in ToB, in Sendai's lovely enclave. Though I have TONS of harder mods so XP is little problem for me. :p

With the XP cap disabler how much XP can your character actually get, and therefore what level can he/she reach?

And also, would you reccomend it only for very tough mods, because otherwise the main game would become too easy?

You can get the 'Safe' XP cap remover, which allows all characters to reach level 40, so with this you could, theoretically get a 40/40/40 FTM, experience permitting.

I take it that means you can get a total of:
    8 Mil * 3 = 24 Mil yeh?

Do you incoporate this into your normal game or only with a modded game Stu?

    Theoretically, I guess.
Tis is the 1st time Ive tried it and I'm only on 1.9mil xp atm.

I'm just using it for my FMT and Sorcerer Duo, I'm using a few mods, but none that dramatically increase the difficulty (ie Tactics, Asscention etc). IIRC you will also need the 'BG2 TOB Fixed Triple Class Mages Not Getting HLA SpellSlots' or else mage spells wont appear in the HLA ability table on leveling up.

More like 8 million / 3 = 2.667 million per class. Really, I'd suggest the XP cap disabler for everyone; you won't get that much XP in the vanilla game anyway, and any mods that give you enough XP in them to be noticable usually increase the difficulty. IMO, the XP cap is pretty artificial anyway, though I think they would have done better to do an XP cap for demi-humans to actually match the rules. ;)

Fel I meant if you had the XP diabler, so therefore each character would reach 40th level.

But do you really think it's a good idea to use it without any mods, it won't make the game drastically easy?

You still have to stay alive until you begin to come into your godhoodlyness. You are supposed to be a 1/2 god, why shouldn't you be uber powerful at the end. Even as much as I cheat, the final battle almost kicked my butt.

    @ Ballrock,
Is that because the F/M/T is overrated or just because it was hard at your current level?

The F/M/T kicks butt. Time stop with GWW is awesome, imprisonment is to die for. You can tank up, hide and backstab (although I didn't because at the time I hadn't used backstab much). Your magic missles to some serious damage and I had a crap load of them memorized. I know that there are people out there that are much better at tactics than me, but I think the tough battles are tough. I usually rely on mellee to get me through more than I should.

I'm talking a F/M/T that's played the game WITHOUT the XP remover! Let's imagine that and then you can tell me if it's worth it or not!
