Familiar mod

    [​IMG] I was just wondering that is there any mod/trick/cheat that expands ,sort of ,the familiars?

    I mean they are quite boring because there isn't almost nothing you can do with them in my opinion.

    Example: In Paper&Pen (I think it's possible not quite sure though, correct if wrong.) if you have an familiar, Imp lets say, you can teach it spells
    and tricks and do everything to it. Right?

    And in the books(Drows daughter:Elaine Cunningham(sp?)) the one drow priestess had an naga that was her familiar(?) and it had more spells(than in bg2) and it was _useful_ and it could be teached spells.

    So to end this I ask: "Is there a mod that gives these things that i ask?"

    That really is curious, now that you mention it. I don't believe there are any familiar mods around at all...

    Could you also ask if they can create some familiars for non-spellcasters? Such as a wolf, squirrel, eagle etc.

    That would be much more difficult. How do you propose those classes obtain the familiars?

    How about, at a certain level, your ranger (let's say) should get a familiar like an owl, eagle or a badger, etc. Can't you create a "ranger-only" item that can be put in a quick slot to do the same thing as a find familiar scroll with a mandated familiar? If a PC ranger can do the potion/scroll switcheroo and get a mage's familiar, I would hope it wouldn't be that hard to do (said from a position of absolute ignorance when it comes to programming this game, so go easy on the flame please).

    Thats a brilliant idea!! i think this game is hurting because that is one of the rangers 3 best bonuses in 2nd edition and they neglected it in the making of the game. in order this is how id rate them as follows: 2d8 for starting hd (always an advantage), tracking, (which they also left out) and then followers.

    An item like that could be created, yes. The primary Baldur.bcs script could also be modified to spawn that creature right on top of the player whenever he reaches a certain level in that class.

    I'd be willing to take up the project, but you'll have to wait until my other one gets finished.
