I was curious, and wanted to know how many of us read/write fanficiton?

By definition, fan fiction is stories written by non-professional writers who receive no profit of their work, based on an already existing source, such as a game, comic, tv-show, book or movie.

I have been reading fan fiction nearly three years now, and the fandoms I read/have read include Star Wars, Buffy the Vampire SLayer, Angel, Higlander, FInal Fantasy 7, Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Hellblazer, Witchblade, Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, and Inuyahsha. I read more yaoi/slash (Stories decipting homosexual relations) than general fic, but I am not averse to any kind of fic at all. I like angs and fluff, and very, very long stories.

I have authored two stories, both of them slash, one BtVS one and a Harry Potter one.

Well, you can use the link to my author page and check out my favorite authors, for a sample. What fandoms are you especially interested in? It has been ages since I read some of them, but I do have some links somewhere....

I write them, but some are not entirely fanfic. Some are based off topics from Forgotten Realms (like sometimes Gods may be metioned, eg "By Lathander! Who would have done this! Morninglord Rodus must hear of this") but the most recent are based off my own world.

I write stories...but not fanfic. Does that count?

 

Well, the ones with any recognizable FR stuff are fanfic, but your original stories are just that, original. I have several originals in the works as well....

I don't get the term 'original fanfiction'. Fan fiction is not original. I don't like writing fanfic, and there is only a small amout that is good. Original works are much better

 

Yes, I agree, I don't read too much Fanfic either. I perfer the real thing.

I read mostly LotR and BG slash, parodies, AUs, angsty stuff and I write LotR fanfiction.

 

You read BG slash? The you might like the story I have een planning to write... a Sarevok/Edwin romance

So, uh, how exactly does THAT happen?!

 

First they start traveling together because they complement each other, a warrior and a mage. From there... I have no idea. But it will happen....

arabwel, this is great! O can't believe i over-looked this site. Finally i can post some of the old stories i've written on my PC and get them reviewed.

 

I've read some fanfic, most of which is, quite frankly, pretty bad. Of course, some fanfic writers here at SP were pretty good. I tried writing a fanfic once; but I just stopped halfway in the middle of it.

 

Of course, you could always post your fanfic stories in the Creativity Surge forum. Sometimes they are fun to read.

I don't really have time to write any fanfiction, but I've thought about it.

 

Z, what username are you going to use in Fanfiction.Net? I am quite eager to find your stories there.

I write loads of Fanfics about Pokemon, Star Wars, that sort of thing.

 

I have been using that site for several years now. I think it was suggested to me by one of you, a long time ago. I've read all the stories for the games I play, except for Final Fantasy, as there are too many there to read. I use the name Dalitarios there, but I haven't been there in a month.

Ara i'm using this one, i've got a couple of tests but i think i'll add to them. I'm currently working on a short story of a council meeting of the Lords of Waterdeep, should be interesting, i'll let you know when it's completed. I just need to do a little more research. By the way, read your Harry & Sirius work, VERY original i must say .

EDIT: Ara, i've found more info than i could ever have hoped, i've decided to write a series of waterdeep adventures, opening with the secretive lords of waterdeep, turns out their names are known to no one however...
