    What's your favorite single item 1.) in Normal, 2.) in HoF?

    For me it is probably

    1.) Big Death, for awesome ammoless damage whammy with great range,

    2.) Golden Heart of Edmund Blackadder. Not only is the constant +4 to AC, +25 HP, and Freedom of Movement great for my main decoy, but the boost to speed makes scouting a snap and lets me set up complicated movement patterns in melee which minimize the number of attacks that enemies get to make on him, all while my ranged attacks are pelting enemies with axes, sling bullets and hammers.

    Normal mode: Holy Avenger, aka Cera Sumat. It turns my pally tank into an impenetrable fortress, even against my own spells. Also, while Big Death is nice, you get it rather late and as such you're going to meet enemies that will cause damage reduction against its +1 enchantment. It totally rocks in early parts of HOF, though.

    HOF mode: Young Ned's Lucky Knucky. Best luck item that doesn't require random drops. Need I say more?

    1.) returning flame bullet +1
    It does about as much damage as a bullets +3 and is useful to kill trolls and slimes. Slings have great range, add strength bonus to damage and having to buy bullets is annoying.
    2.) tymora's loop
    If you found one in normal mode, it will be 10 times better than what you'd wear instead.
