    which team is your favorite? try to give a little background and reasons

    mine is my hometown's humble Maccabi Haifa , football team. I never a miss a game. the team doesn't always win, but always plays offensive and enjoyable football, even against better European sides. last season was the first for us in the UEFA champions league, and we had some nice results in the group stage (3-0 over Man. Utd.). tonight we have a very tough match away at Valencia. keeping my fingers crossed and the beer cold ...

    My favourite sports team would have to be the Toronto Maple Leafs. The reason why is fairly simple - they are the closest NHL hockey team to where I live. Also, how can you go wrong with a team that has a grammatically incorrect name? :D

    I am somewhat weird in that my second favourite team is the Montreal Canadiens (the Leafs' traditional rivals) but I was born in Montreal and there are so many teams in the NHL these days that the Leafs-Canadiens rivalry really seems more like a quaint tradition than some sort of feud.

    I think that there is some rule that having a favourite sport other than hockey is grounds for deportation in Canada. ;)

    Celtic, football (it's not called soccer!) Scottish league. My whole family supports The Bhoys, except my dad who is a secret rangers fan ;) .

    My hometown soccer club: ... hm... what is their name... ah - TSK Naftas Ivanic (TSK ??? dunno, Naftas - "oilman", man that works in oil company, Ivanic - half of the name of my hometown).

    Why?

    Because i am medic for that team... Actually, I just carry them out of the game when they cant get up :D

    Mmmm... hockey. The Toronto Maple Leafs are really one of the only sports teams that I follow, and it's for the same reason as JSBB, they are the closest. As for liking Montreal, boo! Boo the Canadiens! They shouldn't even count as a team! My second favourite would be the Chicago Blackhawks, but thats only because they are my dads favourites.

    Don't know if I have a fav. team, but I really do love to see Brøndby's football team loose, just like they did tonight! Nice! :cool:

    Mine would be the Vancouver Canucks from the NHL, again because they're the local team and so most of the attention in newspapers go to them.

    My two favorite teams are the Montreal Expos and the New Orleans Saints. I think I'm the only San Diegan to favor that particular combination - in fact, maybe the only person in the entire US.

    And the one year when the Expos had the best record in the Major League...was the year that the strike aborted the World Series. Arrghh!!!

    I went to church - and shook hands, no less - with the old Celtic coach :eek: (dammit, canna mind his name), some of the players also go that church. Shame Larsson don't ;) .

    I'm a Red Sox baseball fan myself. Mainly because I don't really like sports except for baseball. And I like them because *sings old 70s song* Boston you're my home! :D Kind of anyway... And I should be a Rangers fan (name of our high school's team) seeing as how I'm color guard Captain and all but I don't like American football. Soccer's ok though.
