[IMG] I want to know if you have a favourite classical piece of music that is related in some fashion to computer games.

My own favourite is Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei (A choral arrangement of his Adagio For Strings) which is heard in Sierra's Homeworld strategy game.

Similarly 'Race to Old New York' from the Final Fantasy film would count.

I am would also be interested to hear if anyone could tell me a bit about the music for the Baldur's Gate Trilogy.

Anything related to computer game music (Tetris?) is welcome in this thread. :)

One of my favourite pieces of music is Terra's ( or Tina's, like it's sometimes called ) Theme from Final Fantasy VI. The piano version sounds very well and melancholic.
Another music I like would be the intro music of Final Fantasy VIII, together with the video it excellent.

The best ever made is the intro song of 'Secret of Mana', that one is so beautifull and that on the snes.

After that almost any musical piece written for any of the heroes of might and magic games.

Any music from the Final Fantasy series is always good (Nobuo Uematsu is a great composer), especially the Dollet landing theme from FF8.
Deus Ex has a pretty snappy main menu music.
IWD2s Targos theme is good too.

Mozart from Chronicles of Black Moon or Blackmoon Chronicles, I don't remember how it was in English. It was more than just matching, it was superb.

In Europa Universalis 2 there's quite much of good mediaeval music.

Icewind Dale 1 and 2 plus parts of BG2 are perfectly included in classical style although not exactly classical in tune.

And, finally, Warcraft 2 rules. I consider WC2 soundtrack a masterpiece of classical music. I would also give ten years of my live to dance a few particular songs from it.

The musics from both Icewind Dales and Heroes of Might and Magic. Throne of Bhaal has also some nice musics (Watcher's keep comes to mind)

Tomb Raider II has a whole bunch of good music. The Italian levels are very good, as are some of the China ones.

[IMG] The original IWD music (when you get into Kuldahar) is great. Morrowind has some great pieces in it too. Thought nothing, nothing compares to the music that plays in the Chapter 1 Intro in Black & White... that nearly makes me cry.
(ok, not quite but it's good) :thumb:

Yeah, many of the songs in the Final Fantasy series are great. I think Celes' theme in FF6 might be the only opera-style song I'll ever enjoy.

I think FF7's overland theme is based on Haydn's symphony, "The Creation" because it was well orchestrated, plus the composer/symphony name popped up in the credits... can anyone confirm this?

Agree with Alex about Zelda - especially the ending songs.

Oh, another game came to my mind.
Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty.
    The intro music is great

It's not a computer game but the soundtrack from Final Fantasy X is my favourite non-metal music.

The Betrayal At Krondor theme song is great! The Morrowind theme song as well, but it gets old after hearing it for the 1000th time. For such a huge game they should've added more than 5 tunes  .

Oh, and I have to agree with Chevalier about Warcraft 2, I actually took that CD out of the computer and put it in my stereo while playing other games.
