I've always had a love of rogues from other games... but this game took that love and just exploded it up a few thousand notches. I've played the other classes, enjoyed them, but I just keep coming back to the rogue class when I do yet another playthrough (and I don't want to think of how many plays I've done of this game lol).

I went for rogue too. I am glad there is finally a rpg where the rogues can actually shine.

I find Mages boring in DAO. Sure, they have all those shiny spells but I don't like playing one as my main character. Having Morrigan or Anders is good enough for me. I find Warriors way cooler but they can't compare to Rogues.

A Rogue has so many options available that other classes seem very limited in comparison and I totally agree with Celtic Dream and Rawgrim, DAO allows Rogues to be much more than lockpickers/trap disablers.

I just love the "Below the Belt" talent. Let's face it no other ability sums up the Rogue class so well. Besides not many games let you have a character who will hit a foe where it hurts the most?

Oh I know... I think my PC's and Zevran both seem to use that talent quite a bit

Not only that, but while I sit here thinking about it, while the other classes all have good specializations that you can go into (Spirit Healer, Arcane Warrior, Templar, Berserker, etc., to name a few), I really love the possibilities that are allowed with rogues. You can go the way of the traditional ranger if you wish, being able to call on animal allies when needed; become an assassin, etc., and you can basically do all four without having to stick with specifically dual handed or bow where usually, when being a 'ranger' you need to stick with a bow specialization. It's a nice change of pace.

That's quite true. My last character didn't have any points in dual wielding or archery and used a dagger and a shield through the entire game. The Duelist specialization really made up for the lack of combat talents.

I usually take the duelist, and the assassin specialization. Ranger just doesn`t make sense. He summons animals out of the blue, in a way. I mean, where do they come from? He has no magic or stuff like that, so I am guessing he just calls for the animals to show up. Making it abit wierd in alot of battles. Bears showing up when fighting the arch-demon, for example.

I may be biased :) but I loved the Dusttown, female, dwarf Rogue. I also liked as second best my elf Mage. I particularly liked his origin story. I know it would have been the same for any other mage but story I thought very good. I could also play him quite differently than I would have a human or dwarf. I'm not fond of playing humans but I even enjoyed the Human Assassin because as a nobleman I could make him more arrogant than the others. The forest elf was good too. I think the only Origin I haven't played is the Dwarf Noble. The rogue was best. :)

I finally, FINALLY finished the dwarven noble quest line - had a female dwarven warrior (realizing I'm actually having as much fun as a warrior, if said warrior has 2H spec, though sword & shield is fun too, as I did as a rogue... think the next few playthroughs are going to be warrior only... lol). It was amazingly fun, front to back, and I switched out some of my usual party members for new ones, just to hear some different party conversations... definitely fun! Working on dwarf commoner now... lord knows I've done the origin stories of all of them time & again, just never did a full playthrough. There was only one issue I had with the dwarf noble at the end, and with that I mean with the 'credits' when they tell you how the world changed after you killed the Archdemon.

It really sucks when you get to the end, run around and talk to your various party members before heading out to your 'adoring public' and you also talk to your old second, Gorim. He makes mention that you've been restored to House Aeducan, heir to the Aeducan throne (which makes me believe that when you get back, Harrowmont (he's who I chose) will abdicate in favor of your PC, Gorim will be your 2nd again, and you'll be welcomed with open arms when you return to Orzammar, as well as being made a living Paragon. That's all fine & dandy, but the credits afterwards just make mention of how you've been named a living Paragon... nothing about your family name and status being restored... that's what sucked for me.

Also had a time here, giggling my head off, after a scene at the Pearl. My dwarf commoner (also a female warrior - sword & shield spec) is romancing Alistair - in fact, he's in love with her  and he's been 'hardened'. Oh, the conversations when getting together with him and Isabela are just precious... my family was asking me if I was ok because I ended up laughing so hard I caused myself to have a pretty decent asthma and coughing attack  Might have to try romancing one of my PC's with Leliana just to see what kind of a reaction I'd get as a possible group with Isa and Zev.

I love mages in most RPGs but in DAO rogues are very cool.
