    Now this is largely a matter of opinion, but nonetheless i'd like to hear what people think the best equipment combo is. I've heard so much about celestial fury, and when i finally found it, frankly, i was disappointed. Any better ideas?

    Disappointed with CF? Wow. My stalker dual wielded Celestial Fury and the Belm scimitar and was tearing through mobs like they were butter. She was a real demon with those things. IIRC the scimitar gives you an extra attack with the main hand, so it's more opportunity for CF's stunning ability to kick it. Ah, the power of cheese. :)

    chiz65_, I don't know how you could be disappointed with Celestial Fury. Were you expecting a weapon that slaughtered everything and everyone in its path, with no challenge remaining in the game? Sure, it's not Crom Faeyr, but you get it much earlier, and with rare exceptions, it can hit and destroy any enemy in the game.

    My favourite combinations would have to be listed by class, I guess: they all depend on other attributes, and the items themselves don't make the game - it's how you use them. Few of these are cheesy, I just like the combination, I guess.

    Stalker/thief classes: Cloak Of Non-Detection + Celestial Fury, Short Sword of Backstabbing or Blade of Roses (and for a Stalker, dual-wielding)

    Any dual-wielder, dependent on proficiencies: Celestial Fury + Malakar (or the Corthala Family Blade, for Valygar); Stonefire + Frostreaver (especially in de'Arnise Keep or the Troll Mound); Belm + Rashad's Talon/Water's Edge (twin scimitars owe a lot to Drizzt)

    Paladins: Carsomyr, Belt of Inertial Barrier and dragon armour & helm (powerful and thematic, too - he becomes a true tank); for an Undead Hunter, I just love Flame Tongue and Daystar to dual-wield, with vanilla (full) plate mail, it fits the image and is deadly against undead.

    Bards: Amulet of Power + Mislead + bard song for a Skald; Ring Of Free Action/Arbane's Sword + Belm + Defensive Spin for a Blade

    For any mage: Staff of the Magi, Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power = game over.

    @Khemsa
    Even more so if the mage happens to be a Sorcerer :D

    Celestial Fury in the main hand and Crom Faeyr in the off hand is a real killer.

    C/R weilding Fulcrum, FoA, Crom. with all the buffs, and ToB items. Sorcerers with SotM, Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power, Boots of Speed. F/M dual wielding Celestial Fury and FoA. Many many combos.

    Somehow it feels kind of silly to have Crom Faeyr dual-wielded especially in the off hand, I'd say that a weapon that big and powerful deserves the wielders full attention IMO...
    Anyhow, I enjoyed having my pure Kensai dual wield Celestial Fury and some other Katana.
    I never cared much for multi-classing so I usually pure my char, and the most fun to play was definitely my kensai - the way he jumped IntoBattle and just got the gore flowing... *shlrrrp*
    Too bad I always end up RP'ing a good char, otherwise I'd have butchered all of Athkatla with him for fun

    @Big Bald Ranger
    You're right, but I personally find wielding Crom Faeyr in the main hand to be a waste (blasphemy, I know). After all, its "Strength to 25" ability is there regardless of the hand, and I don't find it's Golem insta-kill to be useful at this stage of the game, especially since, with STR 25, a warrior can kill just about anything within a single round anyway.

    From an RP perspective, I guess a Kensai dual-wielding the Celestial Fury and Malakar (or Dakkon's Blade if he's a mage DC) makes much more sense, but I find I can never resist those 25 STR. Besides, with the increased to hit and damage of that STR, CF becomes truly wicked.

    Malakar? Whats that and where can i get it?

    I find celestial fury to be so poor because stun rarely works. I'm probably just picking at holes though.

    @chiz65_ : Malakar can be found in Spellhold.

    To complement Xen's answer: it's a +2 katana with a bonus to AC versus certain weapon types (I think it was slashing, but I'm not sure). It's not a great weapon, but it looks very cool when dual-wielded with CF.

    Also if you have Malakar in your inventory, Kuroisan will come after you. Also Malakar does indeed gives bonus to AC versus slashing weapons.

    Kuroisan only appears in Tactics mod. He doesn't exist in unmodded BG2.

    Correct. I just assumed that the original poster has Tactics mod installed.
