Why not regale us all with your favourite recipe, preferably one of your own devising. Here's one of mine. I'm a literal minded kind of a guy, so I'll call it "Chris's Marmite Gravy".

    Chris's Marmite Gravy
Gone vegetarian? Miss gravy? Try this.

Take half an onion (or a whole onion if you like onions), slice thinly and fry in a little oil until soft. Meanwhile, add one or one-and-a-half large dessert spoons of Marmite to a pint (600 ml) of boiling water and stir until dissolved. Add more marmite to taste. Now add a large dessert spoon of clear honey (yes, clear honey) to offset the bitterness of the marmite and a small pinch of thyme for flavour. If you've got a bottle of red wine open, add a slug. Tip the liquid in the frying pan with the onions and heat until it's boiling fiercely. Thicken with two heaped teaspoons of cornflour mixed with a little water. Simmer until your gravy has thickened nicely (add more cornflour and water if required) and the taste of the flour has cooked out.

Believe me, this makes damned fine onion gravy and is particularly good with bangers and mash.
