I noticed that when you look up the feat stats there are two numbers - one in parentheses - what is the significance of these two different numbers?

Are there any others who agree with me that the instruction manual is terrible?? There are so many details missing - unless you play paper D&D you miss out on so much.

The first number should the degree of your "proficiency" in that feat. The second number is the number of points that you need to spend to increase the "proficiency degree" by 1.

Sorry I don't know 3e very well so I expressed it (hopefully, correctly) in my own words. ;)

I would really hate to have to use 15 skill points just to get one level in hide for my rogue. I must disagree. The number in brackets is your BASE for that skill (i.e the number of levels you have of it). The other number is what level the skill actually is after all your modifiers are added in.

The first number is what your base is and the second number is what the feat is now based on your modifers (plus or minus). Minus modifers are usually armor check.

Oops, sorry, I probably mixed it up with numbers in brackets near skills while creating / levelling characters up. So many games, mods, numbers and brackets. :p
