I am only 24 years of age but lately I have been feeling very old. I started to realize this:

    1. When asked what I would be spending my wages on this month, I said a new washing machine, and carpets etc instead of alcohol, holidays to Ibiza etc

    2. I was walking down the street and some 'goth' kids wearing their Korn and Marilyn Manson shirts were commenting on my 'dinosaur' Judas Priest shirt.

    3. At a Sepultura concert my friends and I were some of the oldest people there, apart from the band and security.

    4. A few people were discussing their first games systems and they were shocked that I had an Atari console and Spectrum 128K instead of the Snes or Megadrive (Genesis to N.Americans).

    5. Some teenagers were shocked that most of my favouirt movies were created much earlier than 1992!

Shouldn't worry about it, those young whippersnappers don't know what they missed.

I am younger than you are, Cesard, and i get that feeling all-the-freaking-time....

It helps to have people who tell you to STFU every time you say something about feeling old :p

So what? I don't drink alcohol or take trips to Ibiza, even though I'm 21, and my first system was NES -not, at least, SNES or the like. :p

So don't worry: it can get only worse. After all, you have only about 50 years left before you die. ;)

Cesard, you're at the awkward age when you're no longer young but a full fledged adult but not old enough to brag about it. You now have nostalgic memories. You'll learn to live with it.

Don't forget the pipe and corduroy trousers, Cesard. With those added, you have just stated my ambitions for old age.

Bah! What do you young punks know about being old?

Let me tell you about age – you know you’re old when your mind starts wandering, and you start imagining things. Reminds me of my days in WW1 – I was in charge of washing and waxing the tanks (or was that horses? – I don’t recall). Anyway, one day me and Ted (we called him “Ted” because his real name was “Paul”), we were taking some grub to some of the Chinese prisoners we had captured, and of them said, “Hey, how’s about a game of chess?” Well, of course, that sent us into a fit of laughter, and we weren’t able to stop until Princess Diana brought us our afternoon tea.

So basically, that’s how you make an upside-down cake.

Here's one...you know you're getting old when kids want some of your old t-shirts because they're 'vintage'.

You hear sounds of a creaking rocking chair then a strong but shaky voice is heard. Think of the most aged voice your have ever heard but still strong/

Hey, there. Did I hear Splunge. Speak up laddie, my hearings not what what it used to be. What's that? Oh you talking about the WAR again. Youngster. Maybe I'll tell em about the civil war... when I wake from my nap....

@Cesard: Don't worry, you're not the only on that boat. I'll be 24 in 3 months, and I'm feeling old too... I spoke about it to my aunt, and she told me she actually started feeling young when she turned 30 :D

So, I guess we still have a few years of feeling old ahead of us!

Just wait until you go out and play a simple game of football or something and wake up the next morning with all sorts of aches and pains that you never got when you were an invincible teenager.

    @HB:
My dad used to say the same thing about playing cricket - in his 60's! But you do notice it, more and more, especially if you've not exercised in a while.

I think the "my God, I'm aging!" fear sets in at 22 (what I am, coincidentally). You realise then that the next milestone is 30, and when you were a teenager that seemed like forever. It's your first real instance of an extra year not meaning more than just that: another year older. I guess that links with the "parable of Ziad's auntie": you spend a decade worrying about it, and the relief when you get to 30 & your teeth DON'T fall out after all makes it all better!

Another big milestone is when you realise that all of the players in (insert your favourite sports team here) are all actually younger than you. All your life you've dreamed that you might play for that team when you 'grew up', but now you realise that it's too late.

Unless of course, your favourite sports team is the Lower East Side Veterans Lawn Bowls B Team.....

Or Huish & Langport Cricket Club: average age = 50+... :shake:

Interestingly, they're also one of the few cricket teams in history to have been 0 all out in a game!

THIS is starting to scare me! Guys in the All Blacks, my age or younger, twice my height and three times the weight!
