Ferret Baudoin from Obsidian has been interviewed by Computer and Video Games on Neverwinter Nights 2. Not like it doesn't include some looking back at the days in the Black Isle Studios or his mother admitting that perhaps it wasn't so bad to stay indoors and play D&D instead of going out and kicking the ball... Here's a tidbit:

So what's the relationship like between BioWare and Obsidian? Why is it that they entrust their babies to other companies? It seems quite strange...

Ferret Baudoin: I suppose that if you just look at Obsidian like a new company, and don't think about the people who are in it, then yes, it would seem very odd. But what makes it make sense is when you realise that the principle people of Obsidian are all from Black Isle - people who've been working for BioWare for years and years. I'm not even sure how many years it is, but they worked with them on Baldur's Gate and tons of other stuff.

    More:

So now you can tell your parents: "Y'see, I wasn't wasting my time..."

FB: I've actually had to tell my mother that on several occasions. I think she's still slightly irked, but she now says: "You're right. All those times I used to tell you to go outside and play, perhaps you were doing better things indoors."

Isn't having a life a little overrated, after all? Allow your children to stay home and play pen and paper or cRPG D&D. Perhaps they will become great designers when they grow up. Or great newsposters.
