yesterday, i made my first dual-class character, a lvl 9 berserker/thief. i know from my previous games that a thief receives experience-rewards according to his levels, 1750/400 xp from levels 6-10, 2750/950 xp from levels 11-16 (or so) and even more once you reach lvl 17 for disarming traps and picking locks. my b/t is a lvl 12 thief now, but he still only makes 1750/400 xp per trap/lock. why is that?

Probably because of the bug where the game only counts the first class sometimes when determining what level you are. Dual/Muli-class Druids got particularly stiffed by this in vanilla SoA, because they need to be level 14 in order to receive their stronghold. As a dual class, they were therefore stuck, because there's no way to get reactivate your fighter abilities after dualling at level 14, if you wanted that stronghold. I believe there's some kind of fix over at www.baldurdash.org. I'm uncertain if it will aid your F/T, but it's worth a try. :)

The average level of your character counts.

    (9+12):2=10.5

You should get more XP once you reach level 13 as thief, since (9+13):2=11 .
