First solo

I have been playing an evil party but they are kinda boring so i decided to play my first solo game. i'm gonna need lots of help with this one . I think i'll be a F/M/T. What race and stats should i be and have? any tips, must have items, ideas, please let me know. i want to get underway tonight if possible so I eagerly wait for a response. and i'm gonna be good. didn't enjoi evil. thanks.

 

Half-elf, get 18/xx STR, 18 DEX, and 18 CON. High INT is good but not essential.

Specialise (two weapon proficiency slots) in katanas, scimitars and any sword you fancy, and dual-wield. Get point into two weapon style too!

You can also try ranged weaponry but it will be painful to switch between two weapons and bows constantly. You should go with two weapons all the way; or get single weapon style, it adds good bonuses too!

Definitely get Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power, Celestial Fury, Staff of Magi, Belt of Innertial Barrier, Cloak of Sewers are very handy too! Belm is nice enough early on, SoM is handy for its dispel&spelltrap and invisibility.

As for spells, get Magic Missile, Pro from Evil, Mirror Image, Invisibility, Haste, Slow, Skull trap, Melf's Minute Meteors, Stoneskin, Greater Malison, Spirit Armor, Improved Invisibility, Breach, Lower Resist, Spell Immunity, Sunfire, Mislead, Improved Haste, Pro from Magical Weapons, Death Fog, Mordy Sword, Ruby Ray of Reversal, Finger of Death, ABDHW, Powerword:Blind, Pierce Shield, Time Stop, Imprisonment, Spellstrike.

Thief skills: If you are going to solo, focus on traps and locks early on, after they are all %70-80, spend some points to detect illusions, it is a very handy ability, like a free True Sight. You don't need stealth, as you will have spells. Set traps are very powerful, if not cheesy, but a definite support for a soloer, so get it to a decent level too!

HLAs:You really don't need UAI if you don't plan to use Carsomyr; as you can use almost any item in the game already. GWW is alway nice to have, but Assasination is deadly, when you are dual-wielding, improved hasted, you will have a base of 7 attacks or so and they will be all back-stabs! Nasty that. Set Spike traps is soooo cheesy and uber powerful!

Mislead spell is wonderful, will allow continous backstabs! Mislead, send your decpy away, sneak to the back of a foe, improved haste yourself, activate critical hit HLA, and start bashing. 7 attacks, all BOTH backstabs and critical hits, for x10 damage, nothing can survive such an onslaught.

Stock up master thievery potions and use them when you are going to do a major pick-pocket spree. With potions and a few items to boost PP, ou don'T need to spend points in to it. Sell your wands and steal them back, they will have full charges and will be very, very powerful weapons; summon hordes of monsters, blast away all kinds of elemental damages!

F/M/T is a very versatile and powerful class, the posibilities are endless!

 

Wow, shot for the indetailed response. i'll use katane and what about **'s in Maces? are there any powerful enough to stand up to some of the long swords?

 

Start your solo in BG1 so you can have 19 STR, DEX, CON, and INT. That way you can memorize every spell without having to pick and choose, and a solo F/M/T will kick a$$ in BG1 too. My F/M/T ended up at the end of ToB with Axe of the Unyielding +5, Crom Faeyr, and Dagger of the Star +5; Crom in the off-hand, Axe for slashing, and Dagger for backstabbing. Corsana was f***ing incredible.

 

Your asking alot of me Fel. I'm Pretty over BG1. but a solo will put a new twist on things i guess. Don't worry silver. i'll use all your advice when I get there and thanks again for all the help. Can you backstab with a Katana? i'd rather use that then a dagger but the axe sounds cool. should i make a new post in BG1 forumn or continue here as i intend to complete the whole saga?

 

No, you can keep it here. When in doubt, claim Tutu for BG1 stuff.
