I finished reading Hobb’s “The Farseer Trilogy” and I liked the characters a lot. I was wondering if it would be possible to implement them in IWD2. Would they have any chance of finishing the game? I haven’t played IWD2 for a while and I don’t even have it with me at the moment, so bear with me while I expose my ideas:

    - Fitz: (human male)
    Rogue (X) / Ranger (1) / Mage (Y)
One level of ranger is added for RP purposes. Animal Empathy could be a substitute for the Wit. As a Mage, only mental-related powers should be taken, because the magic used in the Assassin series is the Skill, which is based on mind control and telepathy. Enchantment, Divination and non-summoning Illusion (shadows) spells are all good. Power words could also be OK. Fitz favors quarterstaves and axes as his main weapons. Fitz should learn Alchemy, as he was trained as an assassin and poisoner.

    - Nighteyes (human male shaped like a wolf using DK)
    Monk (X)
Would play without any equipment, not even potions, as it couldn’t carry them. It should be healed by others or be given potions only when in need. It shouldn’t initiate any conversation.

    - Verity (human male - Aasimar)
    Paladin (X) / Sorcerer (Y)
Same spell restriction as Fitz due to the fact that he uses mental powers (Skill). Verity should be able to handle himself well with a large or great sword. He is a master of the Skill, so he should have many levels of Sorcerer.

    - Burrich (human male)
    Fighter (X) / Ranger (1)
Burrich is also Witted and is very good handling beasts, so Animal Empathy for him too. His weapon of choice is the axe. Burrich has quite a temper, so he should improve Intimidation.

There are no healers or other type of mages in this series, so I decided not to add them to the party. One could increase the party to 6 characters including:

    - Ketricken (human female)
    Ranger (1) / Fighter
Verity’s wife, from the mountain people. A good hand with a sword and with a slight grip on the Wit.

    - Kettle (human female)
    Sorcerer (X)
Another powerful skill-user. Same restrictions as above.

    - Chade (human male)
    Thief (x) / Fighter (Y)
Chade is a master assassin. He should increase Alchemy and learn how to poison a weapon. He is also very good in diplomacy.

Please post your comments and suggestions.

Only Druids and Rangers can take Animal Empathy so you would be limited in how many points you can put into that skill.

Ideally, with IWD 2, you should be able to beat the game with any combination of characters. However, some combination will obiviously make it more difficult than others. Not having a healer in your party is going to make it rough, but it is doable. Atleast Paladins get Lay on Hands at level 1 and Monks get Wholeness of Body at level 7. So, I can only say good luck to ya.

Using DaleKeeper to change a character's shape seems to cause problems in IWD 2 that weren't in BG2 or IWD, especially at level up. I used it to give my snake blooded Paladin of Ilmater the Yuan-Ti half-breed appearance (RPing a child of the Kuldahar villagers taken by the Yuan-Ti in IWD and saved by the Ilmaterians). At any rate, every time she needed to level up, it crashed with an error about not finding the right animation or something.

Mmm... that could make things difficult. Has IWD2 a CTRL+Q type of command that allows you to force NPC characters in your party? I could include a wolf that way. There is no real point in making that party without Nighteyes...

Well, not really. You could just edit him to change his appearance every time he needed to level up, then change it back. I thought about doing that, but decided I was too lazy.

If you've enabled cheatkeys, CTRL+A will allow you to change the selected character's "paper doll" into a number of different forms. It doesn't change stats/attacks/whatever. I believe a wolf may be one of the forms you can get.
