[IMG] Does anyone know a good, reliable site that has good prices for flat screen monitors? If so, please list them here.

    Thanks!

    try www.pricegrabber.com
I buy most of my PC equipment through them. They don't sell products themselves, but provide a lot of info. You can search for products by price, features, etc, and look at reviews from people that actually bought the products.

Once you've decided on the product you want, you are given a list of vendors who sell the product, prices for each vendor. A vendor ranking system lets you do a little research and see if they are reliable or people have had problems with them.

Sir B, I know not where you live. I'm in the States.

You're a little better off if you can get a monitor locally.

I bought a 19" Envision for about $250 locally. It doesn't really have a "flat" screen; it's a shadow mask, but they put a concave piece of glass in front of the tube that brings the image around. It's very, very close to what my old 17" Dell Trinitron was in terms of flatness.

    I'm very happy with it.

Bel lives in the US, and I think he's interested in TFT displays.

[IMG] Thanks BTA...Wow! I don't even need to type anymore - Apparently the jedi mind trick is working!! ;)

What does TFT stand for? I am very acronymically challenged!

Bel ... it doesn't matter what stands for ... the truth is that you posted this thread to say, "I have a new job and lots of money AND YOU DON'T!!!"

The flat screen monitor thing was just a gymick ;)

[IMG] That's a terrible thing to say...Actually, I do have a new job, and because I do, I am interested in upgrading some of the things in my life, such as:

    1) a new car (I've been driving the same one for
    7 years...It was time for a change!)

    2) home improvementy stuff (I didn't work for a
year, and there are some basic upkeep stuff I
    need to do.

    3) Upgrade my pc and peripherals. (My system is
getting painfully slow, and I want something
quicker, better and chock full o' memory! I
also want to replace my 6 year old monitor
that is probably giving me cancer!)

    4) Travel. My passion in life! There are so
many places I want to see...So I want to get
    back to that too!

TFT stands for "Thin Film Transistor" and has pretty much replaced "Active Matrix" for describing those type of displays.

[IMG] I'm sure it's because "Active Matrix" doesn't make a TLA (Three Letter Acronym), and everyone knows how much engineers love their TLAs! ;) Just look at what people call me - BTA!

[IMG] I hear ya! The job I'm doing is contract analysis for an SAP consulting firm. People are shouting out ABAP, ERP, BPR, TO, and all kinds of stuff! I even bought a book to better understnad it, and I have a notebook with me at all times to jot down every acronym...To look up or ask about later!

We call you BTA because "Blackthorne the Abominable" takes waaaay too long to type! ;)
