[IMG] I had a quarter pounder at mcdonalds and in 2 hours since then I've taken a crap 5 times and puked 3 times. Short of going to the hospital (it's not too bad, just uncomfortable and mildly painful) is there anything I can do to speed up my recovery rate?

Not really, get some blueberry soup. Tightens up that tummy in a flash. For the future dont eat at McDonalds, I am starting to doubt it is bad conditions in specific McD kitchens which give people foodpoisoning as I have been foodpoisoned 3 out of the last 5 times I have eaten at McDonalds in general. I have completely stopped eating there.

Then your country's food inspectors are obviously not doing their jobs, if such disastrous sanitary conditions are the norm. I've eaten at different McD's here probably upwards of 100 times by now and have never had any problems. You should report your food poisoning to the proper authorities so they can make a sanitary inspection.

It's not just fast food, ya know...

There are restraunts that if you order steak cooked rare or medium - rare you have to sign a form in triplicate saying it's your problem if you are poisoned. Really.

Taluntain, I do not think it is the sanitary conditions which makes me sick. I think it is something in the ingredients which McDonald's use which makes me sick. Otherwise I would get sick roughly as often by eating at Burger King or pizza places or elsewhere but I dont. When I was younger I ate at McD very often and never had any problem, might be something new in their food or something new in me.

Heh, I've found that after eating at the McD's I often am unwell as well... Food rarely does bad things to me, but McD often gives me nausea and miserableness.
Probably because the food is so greasy and scary and whatsnot.

Just wait until I finally get my LLM. For a mere 50% of what we win... :shake:

Seriously, I don't eat at MacDonald's anymore. I've eaten (and drunk) various things in my life, but I don't want to eat at Mac. I really prefer to go hungry than to eat fast food. Especially if it's Mac. I make an exception for KFC and Pizza Hut (somewhat less and less enthusiastic about the latter) when circumstances demand I have something close to a dinner. Or those huts where Turkish immigrants sell shoarma. Who knows what kind of meat it is or what kind of hygiene, but I like the taste. Still, I rarely eat when I'm not very hungry, anyway. Some kind of discipline. Need to look good. I owe something to my future wife, don't I? ;)

Yeah, all that bacteria from their unsanitary conditions :)

If it is food poisoning (and not an allergy like joacqin's cases may be), then you just need to treat it like any other kind of illness, because that's essentially what it is: you've got some bad bacteria in you, and your body needs to fight it off. And you most surely should notify the proper government agency so they can correct any problems at that particular restaurant.

A friend of my brothers got sick from a McDonald's, and when he went to the doctors it turned out there was two different types of sperm in the burger. Don't eat there!

I have never gotten sick from fast food. Only got a little queasy from some questionable calamari at a party.

Food poisoning is apparently on the increase. That is an appalling statistic given that we supposedly have such modern hygiene practices.

Actually increasing hygene practices in theory can result in increased rates of infection since our resistances will be lowered. If you spend your entire time in your little bubble of hygene you won't get sick, but after being in that bubble for serveral generations, don't be surprised that you catch all sorts of nasty things when you leave that bubble.

I still say sue the bastards.

Well, I have never really gotten food poisoning but the closest I have come was feeling queesy after eating a MacDonald's sausage mcmuffin - I don't know what was worse the rubbery eggs or the vile sausage patty.

Still, I would say that my feeling queesy was just a reaction to eating vile greasy food too early in the morning - and not actual food poisoning.

Personally, I would say that I have found that Mac Donald's food has increased in quality over the last few years. I still avoid MacDonald's in favour of other fast food places but when I am on the road visiting clients I don't always have that luxury.

A local pizza place serves the best chicken wings in the world. But a pound of inferno chichen wings is not eough for delivery, so i have to add a small pizza everytime. They had this special dose of cheese on their pizza that each slice causes me diarrhoea. If only i can sue them for food poisoning and get free chicken wings every weekend.. but then i am just lactose intolerant.

Yeah, listen to Abomination guys, a little infection is good! Keeps the immune system functioning nice and pretty. I'm not saying you should lick spilt juice off the floor, but over-cautious hygiene practices lead to increased allergies and risk of infection by more bugs since you haven't been exposed to them before.

    no, thats actually a fact.
Like chickenpox - much worse the older you are. Some creatures actively try to expose themselves to bacteria when in a safe environment to build up immunities.

hehe, i wish. but sadly, lawsuits here hardly have the effectiveness and speed that they take place at in countries like the U.S.

I've been taking nothing but Gatorade since last night to rehydrate myself and am feeling a bit better though :) Not sure if I'm totally well yet though  gonna find out in a few mins as I'm going to try and have breakfast :D
