Jolt has posted a somewhat belated review of Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone, an action RPG from Atari, placed in the same world as the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale sagas or Neverwinter Nights. Although they don't recognise it as a real RPG, their reaction is positive. Here is a snip:

Following from its brief stint as a PS2 exclusive in 2004, Atari finally got around to releasing the PC and Xbox versions of Demon Stone earlier in the year – though you’d be forgiving for not having noticed. As a straight-out action/adventure game it’s a good deal of fun (if a little on the short side), offering up some excellent virtual cinematography; and not that we’re complaining, but it makes for an unusual PC release.

If you even know what Forgotten Realms is then we’re willing to bet that your gaming platform of choice is the PC and you probably count at least a half-dozen RPGs in your collection. Demon Stone is based on the richly detailed world of Faerûn, the most popular Dungeons and Dragons setting and home to games like Icewind Dale, Temple of Elemental Evil, Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate.

If this all sounds a bit beardy to you, then a good deal of what Demon Stone offers will probably be lost on you. On the other hand, if the thought of playing as Drizzt Do'urden and meeting Khelban "Blackstaff" Arunsun (voiced here by Patrick Stewart) appeals to you then you might well be offended by Demon Stone’s hugely liberal take on Dungeons & Dragons’ gameplay. So allow me to announce my bias here and say that I enjoy both turn-based RPG’ing and a well-executed fighting game.
