This has probably been mentioned before, but Driz'zt falls for the invisible door routine.

I wandered around until I had four invisibility potions, made four characters invisible and surrounded Drizzt -- Die, foul drow, die!

On a related note; I had a 4th level elven fighter with a 19 dexterity, three stars in bows, the +1 composite bow, and bracers of archery -- and I could only hit the drow on critical hits. I ran out of arrows and needed to pick up one of the handy halberds to finish him off!

    I figure: 3 (dex) + 2 (bracers) + 1 (racial) + 2 (bow) + 3 (specialization) = +11 to hit! Dritz'zt AC should have been 1 due to the armor with a -4 bonus from dexterity and a -2 bonus from the scimitar of defense -- that's only -5. My 4th level fighter: THAC0 = 17 with +11 to hit, that gives THAC0 = 6 and THAC(-5) = 11. I should have hit him 45% of the time, not 5%.

So, why could I only hit on critical hits?
    Maybe "superheroes" get to cheat....

Edit: corrected some of my poor grammar....

Yeah I remember when I used the "sacrifice one and pummel him for the other side of the lake" trick, it seemed silly that only critical hits would work and I sat there for around 15 minutes watching minsc khalid imoen and jaheira go through their ammo like it was going out of fasion, maybe he has some wierd AC vs missle attacks... :bang:

If your "one" has the Dimension Door spell you need not sacrifice them.

In fairness, Garrick is in Beregost, which isn't too far away, and is pretty useless for anything else! :p That final "Yess, ssir" as he explodes into a pile of chunky kibbles was always heart-warming, somehow... But maybe I'm just evil...

And you had to reset your path-nodes for that trick to work, anyway. Seemed a little too underhand, to me. I just went with the invisible blockers tactic. Or as I like to call it "The Barrel" - hence, the expression: "as easy as shooting Drizzt in a barrel". But it's only me that uses it... :sosad:

LOL @ Magpie: exactly my reason, that little bugger just did my head in :bang: and I was gonna ditch him by the time I got to the Gnoll Keep anyway, so why not let him go out in a blaze of glory! YES SIR!!!

I've actually never managed to kill Drizzt, even with all those tricks... I'm such a failure :(

Here's a great trick, get a mage, Dynaher, Xan, Edwin or whoever, buy them loads of wands of summoning, create an army and send them at Drizzt!! MUHAHAHAHAAHAA!!! but make sure that you don't stop summoning them because it takes a lot of them to take him down.

Actually this trick can work on anyone or anything though it can cost quite a bit...

    @Rolsuk

I think the "arrows from the island" strategy is more economical :p

I just felled the mighty Drizzt with a sling. How do you like them apples ;)

It is well known that the island trick doesn't work if you have your path-finding set at a decent level. Drizzt just walks around the lake to come and chop you up.

Anyway, after lowering the path-finding my bait uses the cursed scroll of petrification on himself to escape Drizzt's wrath. I buy it for 25 GP from Borda (the guy who sells cursed stuff near the Xvart village just south of Drizzt's area). It's the only place I know of where this scroll is available before Lucky Aello's Discount Store in Baldur's Gate is reachable. The only problem with this method is when you forget to bring a scroll of Stone to Flesh with you. It happened to me once and I had to abandon Dynaheir there. I like using Dynaheir for this purpose because I usually kill Drizzt on the way back from the Gnoll Stronghold and also it is very amusing to hear Edwin's "Check Mate! At last, the witch dies" exclamation.

As for Drizzt's armor class. I checked it with Infinity Engine Explorer, his base armor class is -10. His Mithrill chain mail is AC 1. He gets another -4 as a dexterity bonus. Another -2 with his scimitar. So that makes his AC -25 (= -10 - 9 - 4 - 2). You would need a THACO of -6 to be able to hit him with a roll of 19. That explains why critical hits are the way to go aigainst him. I find Drizzt easier to kill than the first apparition of the Demonknight in the main Durlag hall (to get his armor and Helm of Opposite Alignment) or Tazok in the bandit camp, because they escape if you are not fast enough.
