    [IMG] I apologize for my first post being one about technical difficulties, but it is really starting to irritate me.

    First, the problem: The game crashes and my system reboots while I'm in a town (Beregrost or Nashkel; I haven't made it to BG yet). The time spent in the town can range from thirty seconds to ten minutes (usually only about two minutes though). This does not occur while in any of the "wilderness" areas at all (played several areas for several hours with no crash).

    I'm playing a patched Tales version (ver. 5512, six disks) in Windows XP on a 1.6 GHz processor, 256 MB DDR RAM, TDK CD-RW, with 20 GB of hard drive space. I've tried clearing out the cache files, which didn't help. Also, the problem cannot be my disks because I did an install on one of my friend's systems (somewhat older than mine) and it works fine.

    Has anyone ever heard of this type of thing before?

    [IMG] Actually, I just had pretty much the exact same problem except with Baldur's Gate 2. I could not find any way to fix it so I formatted my hard drive. Right now I'm installing all my drivers. And I installed windows 2000 professional this time and not XP. I'll tell you if this fixes my problem. Also when I played Baldur's gate 2 it would do the same thing except usually between more like 5 minutes and 1 hour. I also had this problem with warcraft 3. But those were the ONLY 2 games that did that. strange...

    Graphics card?
    Sound card?

    To get this info if you don't know exact device names, do this:
    Start-Run->dxdiag

    Hey, I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything with windows 2000. That fixed the problem for me. Just tell me if you have any questions on how to do it or anything if you want.

    I'm trying something new out. I discovered that my screen properties were set to 1024x800 resolution (32 bit). I don't believe the game can support this resolution, so I'm changing the res to 800x600. If this fixes it, I'll let everyone know.
