[IMG] I´d been playing BG2 for my first time, and had come to the underdark when suddenly my computer crashed!!!!!!!!!!
I had just made a quick-save file but when I tried to load it, it didn´t work! Then I tried my other savings (with the same char.)and it still didn´t work ... I tried to load one of my brothers files, and they worked! What the @%&$£ is wrong!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? help! Do I need some kinda patch for these kinda things??

I don't know about bugs and patches.

I'd find the saved game and move it to a safe location on the disk. Then I would reinstall the whole game and move the saved game back into the appropriate folder.

    This might help.

    this is normal..

happened to me several times.. not just in this game..

    Alpha Centauri
Fallout 2 (oh yeah, Fallout Tactics SUX!!)
among others, even baldur's gate 2...

its when I do a quicksave or auto save and then quickly off the computer coz im usually late for school or some meeting.. can i help it? im addicted.. anyway.. i guess it would be the same as crashing.. thats why i have 2 savegames.. one quick save.. andone each time i go to a new city or chapter...

happened to me too, though I always had a game not so far from the location in a save game. I don't think there is anything to do

    @Praetor

sounds normal enough with the school thing ;)

I keep chapter saves in their own discreet folder now, just to be on the safe side. Seems to work, and what the heck you don't have to lose your whole game.

Also, just from experience in other games...if you're ever going to use an un-official patch (i.e. I just got the bonus CD stuff) just start up the game and make a spare save, then put it in it's own directory some where. It's nice to have a fallback.

Wow. Looks like that has happened to everyone exept me. I feel sad.
But if your other savings didn't work as well I don't know what can be done (besides deliting the saves of your brother *evil grin*).

edit> did you try re-installing it?

I've actually re-formated my hard drive since I had this problem, de-frag regularly.
The only thing I can do re-install. Basically, i eventually wind up getting locked out of a zone and have to re-install again.
theres a certain part of the loading process where the bar stops moving for a second, and sometimes the mouse pointer appears on the screen for a split second. If it fails to load, thats when it does it.
Just re-installing isn't enough, either. Have to wipe the Cache and temp directories.
I've tried just taking the specific area files out of cache data folder and the temp folder, hoping that might work without having to re-install and re-patch. But it doesn't.
Theres some file somewhere I'm sure which could be easily removed to let the area load as if it where loading for the first time...but I dunno what it is
They have said that they suspect problems with Via motherboards and Soundblaster sound cards...I have both...does anyone else have this problem have the same hardware?

My crash problems are weird. When attempting to enter a house, the game would freeze for a few seconds, then crash to desktop. The autosave doesn't even kick in.
So far this has happened at 2 locations - Valygar's house in the Docks and the Temple of Talos in the Temple District.
The weird thing is that on another try, during the next day for e.g., things would be fine.
I put it down to a partial corrupt load of the area as my CD-ROM drive is acting up.

He is too smart for Bioware i guess :D
He probably already has a great job. His work on the "Enigma of phanteloons" is amazing. As a Note He is the messenger of most fixes not the creator.
But let's Not forget who created this place Jester90210 :p
