Hi all - hope you can help. I've read the faq section on tech problems and didn't see this one.

I'm at the beginning of the game - talked to Ulbrec and just went outside the gate. After talking to the man who wants wine, the screen shows I get experience points, but then locks up. The mouse still works, so I have to alt-tab to exit to Windows. This also happens after talking to the guy in charge out there and the guy standing in front of the weapons rack.

My PC is Win98 and my husband's is WinXP. It happens on both PCs. We also installed the patch.

    Any help would be appreciated.

btw - I also had the assertion problem and reinstalled the whole game.
