[IMG] You will find the water, animals and seeds at various parts of the game. You cannot get them all yet at the time you first talk to the guy. You'll have to come back later.

As for the piece, no, as far as I can remember he doesn't have it. Check out our online solution: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD/Walkthrough/

You can find more details about everything there.

There's one piece, way way down on the very first level of the entire tower. It can only be accessed through an 'elevator'. So if you search around on level 3 for an 'elevator', you can take it down, then take a flight of stairs down (central) to the very first floor. You'll come out in a partition that is only accessable through this route, and right in the middle of a huge battle (be prepared).

The other three pieces are found in the towers. The west tower has been blown up (Larrel), so search the other three...

First part of the machine is the one you access by the elevator on the right side. The other 3 are all on the same floor, Kayleesa and the warriors, the priests, and another sets of stairs leads you to 2 or 3 floor of soldiers, the item being on the first floor in the desk. However, I think you can get really confused if you missed the first part downstairs. I know I did the first couple if times I played IWD.
