I feel terrible for doing this but would anyone mind giving me a decent English translation of the following.

Rotchen: I know that rot is red and -chen is a diminutive so I'm guessing that it would probably mean something along the lines of "the little red one".

Wer zu sich selber nein sagt, kann zu Gott nicht ja sagen. "Who says no to themsleves cannot say yes to God"?

Thanks for any help you can give me

Actually, He who says no to himself cannot say yes to God.

Hm, interesting. Rötchen wouldn't mean the "little red one". It means nothing. The diminuive form is in standard-German deas as the dinosaurs (sp ?). Rötchen means nothing. The only word connection which would make sense would be "Rotkäppchen". "little red hat".

On the other hand, Teufelchen (little devil) makes sense. A survivor form in standard German. But names like "Gretchen" and so on only exist in English-speaking countries.
