[IMG] I have to give a speech tonight for one of my classes, oh joy. Anyone here who can't stand to give a speech, mortally afraid? I'm not that bad, but giving a speech is not something I'm all excitied about either. What do you say?

If the speach is made for me, I don't mind that much, but if I am to improvise... oh my god, I hate that, especially if it isn't in my interest to talk about that subject.

Well, i am currently the valedictorian, assuming it will stay that way i will have to give one, i have done big speeches before, it always helps to have a thesaurus while writing. I am certainly not excited about it.

[IMG] I guess I'm in the minority here. I enjoy giving speeches and do it almost every day for work. Remember to make an outline, even if only in your head before talking. Speak slowly and clearly. Most people get nervous and speak to fast. Make eye contact with the poeple you are talking to. If you are reading the speech don't read into your notes. Read a line and then look up and speak it. The only way to get good at speaking is to practice all the time. Go over what you are going to say before hand and time yourself. This will give you an idea of how long it will take BEFORE you are giving the speech. Modulate you voice and use hand gesters to give life to what you are saying. Keep your audiance interested and involved.

I agree about having the topic being interesting helping. I think the most exciting speeches I ever gave where when I did Live Action role-playing. Doing magic rituals, speaking in console, and giving pep talks to fire the troops up before battle rocked.

Good luck on your speech. I know you'll do fine.

It really depends who I'm giving the speech to, next week for my media A level I have to talk for two minutes about something that interested me in the press to a group of 11 girls, (I'm the only boy in the class!)
    :D

Thats gonna be interesting to say the least
    ;)

Don't worry Voltric, I'm going over it right now, taking small breaks to refresh the SP boards to help ease my pain :) :D

[IMG] In fact DON'T be natural! But make it look like that ;)
You don't talk to some girlfriend there, no need for being yourself *evil grin*

    Few rules:
    1. Prepare it and practice (in front of the mirror - the best)
    2. Put inside fun things (i.e. throw something in the middle of the speech, or fart, or anything)
    3. Keep an eye on one person who listens to you, after a while "glower" to another

The point is to keep them to listen so you must be funny and interesting, OK?

My, I was the best in that...

bahhh E. you speak like a book. I never abide to those stupid hints. Thinking about what to do and how to do and when to do it "right", is a waste of time.

Of course you don't follow hints Nobleman...
And of course it is a waste of time...
    To you.

To me it is preparing to make other people laughing and have fun. I like it! I like when other people enjoy.
You see, I'm not the smartest ass in the universe so that I can always be interesting like you.
I don't want to end being boring to them like...*ahem*
