Glacias in the hold

i am also having a problem taking out glacias in the keep. i have heard some where that there is an unviolent way to end the fight and was wandering if ne of u had found that to be true so that i don't lose any one in my party. i could use a few pointers from some of u vets. in here if u wouldn't mind.

 

What I did to get past Glacius my first time through, was to charm him (First time I ever used it in the game) and then rested. When I woke, I talked to him again and he thanked me for releasing him and walked off.

But I would advise against it, as he carries something you'd probably want, so kill the blaggard (maybe with dispel or slow to counter his haste potions)

IIRC, Glacias has a non-magical weapon. I summoned a magical beast (think it was a Nishruu (spelling??), but the important thing is that it was immune to normal weapons ). Glacias attacked the beast, to no effect, and I kept my distance, and used arrows & spells to take him down.

 

What the??? If you are good you should lose your alignment for that.

Here's the lowdown. Glacias has been dominated by the invaders. Fortunately the game allows a very easy way to overcome this.

Charm him using your ring of human influence, or Jaheira's Charm Person/Mammal spell. You might need to do it more than once if the first fails. When he is charmed, just dispel the magic or rest until the duration of your spell runs out.

Voila! Glacias is now uncharmed! He will give you a flail head and some stuff. There is little that he carries on his body so you should take pity on the bugger and not kill him.

 

Hm... Serves me right for not reading the walkthrough all the way through, I guess... My character was Chaotic Neutral, and I never actually thought about finding a _good_ solution. (Ah, well. Yet another reason for playing through the game once more...)

 

alright, but when i charmed him, it didn't fail, but it also didn't work, he just kept attacking me. he was also to close to me to rest(and i couldn't wait because he killed two MORE of my npc's after it didn't work). any other little tricks? does it involve luring him out of his room(heard this rumor also)

 

Even if your charm works, I think you have to click Glacias and order him to stop attacking (walk him away or something). Won't swear on it, but I know if your characters are confused/attacking your people, you have to do this after dispelling magic.

I never knew you could end the Glacias encounter peacefully. I slaughtered him every time. Try hold person (and have a backup if he saves).

 

And don't forget to tell your guys 'n' gals to lay off him. If you hit a charmed enemy, the pain counters the charm (seems like basic intelligence remains).
