I'm looking for help in this topic, and I have some clues anyway.
Malison Orb-->lovers saving throws, it can be powerful on high levels.

Hmm... I haven't tried this one yet (my Mage isn't on a high-enough level to cast lvl. 5 spells), but I reckon that Entangle/Web followed by Cloudkill might work pretty well... even if the monsters don't get killed by the cloud, they'd get pretty damn hurt.

(Then again, if a monster's tough enough to be able to withstand Cloudkill, you probably wouldn't be able to Web it in the first place :()

When you're on lower levels, use Animate Dead together with Stinking Cloud. The cloud will knock out a lot of the enemies, and the skeletons can go hit them without being hurt by the it :).

Or cast either or together, grease, stinking cloud, web or/and cloudkill and then follow it up with a couple of fireballs for good measure ...
