[IMG] In order to (hopefully) lower the exorbitant amount of bandwidth Sorcerer's Place is using up I am hoping to find someone who has a server (or any box they could give me FTP access to), where I could put all the game downloads. This is for the zip files only, no html or anything executable. I simply need a file repository for the hundreds of downloads.

    Here are the requirements:
    a) It needs to be online 24/7
    b) I need to be able to access and manipulate files via FTP
    c) 50GB+ bandwidth usage a month is to be expected
    d) 400MB+ space is needed for all the downloads

So, if you happen to be able to provide me with something like that, or know anyone who could, please let me know ASAP.

I was all for it till you needed access to my computer. Thats somewhat of a turn off their Tal. Anyways I have to defragment my comp like three times a week already and I've got to share the comp with family. Sorry again. Good Luck finding some one.

p.s.Got family that would let you do that? Maybe ask a local business. All you would have to do is put up a message and maybe a link to their page. Hobby stores that sell D&D. Think bigger Tal. Good Luck again!

DRSW, it's easy to limit his access to the area where you have the files located. Depends what you use to run your server I guess.

I don't think my provider would be happy with a user that has 50 GB per month traffic.

It should not be a huge problem to make a server with this requirements, but the problem is to find a proper internet-connection....

[IMG] Right... So please don't bother to post unless you have something that meets my requirements.

What do you mean By: FTP, Box and 50 gigs moving through it? Would it have to have 50 gigs of free space?

[FTP - File Transfer Protocol, a method of transferring files from one computer to another. Box - A computer. 50GB of data traffic on the internet to/from the computer (mainly from). - BTA]

"a) It needs to be online 24/7"

So, what you're actually saying here is "Someone that is *NOT* running a Windows 98/Me/Nt machine."

Or even more specific "Someone who is running Linux/*nix".

I'd like to help, but my Linux skillz just aren't up to par...

When you say 50gb+ traffic pr month. Is that traffic divided evenly in the whole month? Because some connections could handle 50gb+ if used all the time, but not if people download in clusters

Throughout the whole month, of course. As I said, it's SP downloads. I'm sure you can imagine how that works.

What you need is a Electrical Engineering student, who is a TA for the school's backbone admin.

Send you an email. Don't wanna discuss it on the forum.
Aaah, and now it happened. I wrote too much and lost my watcher.
Maybe if my friends can help you, you can give me back my total newbie status????

[IMG] Actually this won't be necessary any more. I've decided to buy a dedicated server for SP. At least that way I won't have to worry about bandwidth all the time. I just hope people will be helping enough that I'll be able to pay for it every month. Thanks to all who have contributed in any way listed on that page thus far!
